Hey, I'm Lon, and I work on the News Vertical here at Mahalo, trying
as best I can to stay on top of the latest events and stories.
I'm
29 years old, and have lived in and around Los Angeles for the better
part of my life. Before I worked for Mahalo, scanning the Internet for
interesting, worthwhile links and information, I was a clerk in a video
store. (When I'm not staring at a computer screen, I like staring at a movie screen. It's a refreshing change of pace. )
Before that, I worked in post-production typing out subtitles
for DVDs, which essentially involved watching every episode of "Sex and
the City" a minimum of four times. I'll probably skip the movie.
I've quit a lot of jobs as well. I worked in a tape vault at Fox Sports briefly. I was a personal assistant to a Hollywood PR agent for a few days. I was a courier for an afternoon. I've dabbled in telemarketing. I was once hired by a production company to write a documentary about String Theory, despite having no physics background of any kind nor an ability to clearly definte the term "quantum mechanics." And though it's hard to top shelving books or staring blankly at a cubicle wall, I'm going to go ahead and say that Mahalo is the best job I've ever had.
I think the idea is to list some of our favorite pages on here, but it's so hard to choose. I'm proud of the work we've done covering the recent Iowa debates in real time. This page on Bob Dylan is the one I made on my first day at Mahalo. Also, I'd like to highlight the History Team, which does terrific work on a wide variety of interesting pages. Check out the whole category.
