Willem Dafoe is an American film and stage actor. He was born on July 22, 1955 in Appleton, Wisconsin. He has seven siblings. His father, Dr. William Alfred Dafoe, is a surgeon and his mother, Muriel Isabel, is a nurse. His brother, Dr. David Dafoe, is a surgeon as well. Dafoe attended the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee where he studied acting. He was romantically linked to director Elizabeth LeCompte. He and LeCompte founded The Wooster Group, a theatre production company. The couple has a son together named Jack Dafoe. On March 25, 2005, the actor married actress Giada Colagrande.

Acting Career
In the mid 1980's, Dafoe starred in the film To Live And Die In LA. He became famous for his role in the war film Platoon in 1986. In 1988, he starred in another war movie titled Off Limits. From there, he played in the well known films Mississippi Burning, Flight of the Intruder, Body of Evidence, Clear and Present Danger, The English Patient, and Speed 2: Cruise Control. His more recent works include Spider-Man, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Spider-Man 2, The Aviator, Spider-Man 3, and Fireflies in the Garden.
