The Ural Mountains run north and south, to form a border between Europe & Asia. They are divided into five regions, Arctic, Subarctic, North, Middle and South. Located in Russia, their highest point is Mount Narodnaya.

Geography of the Ural Mountains

The Ural Mountains a rugged range that extend from the northern border of Kazakhstan to the Arctic Ocean with a range of 2,500km. Notorious for dense forests and rich soils, quite a few minerals can be found here including gemstones such as topaz and beryl. The Ural region also is rich in chromium, copper, zinc, platinum, silver and gold.
