Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a memorial sarcophagus at the Arlington National Cemetery in Washington D.C.. The tomb is a memorial for four unknown soldiers who died in service to the country; one each from World War I, World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. In August 2008, discussion generated heated debate regarding how to best maintain the aging monument which had developed long cracks in the marble along its base and through the wording of the monument itself.1
