The Secret of Monkey Island is an adventure game developed by LucasArts. It was the fifth game to use the SCUMM engine. The SCUMM engine was designed by LucasArts to aid the development of the graphical user interface.

The game focuses around Guybrush Threepwood, a kid that wishes to become a pirate. At the beginning he washes up on the Caribbean Island. On the island, he runs into a group of pirate leaders. He is given three challenges to prove that he has the discipline to become a pirate. During these challenges, he meets several characters which help in Threepwood's challenges to win the game.
