In the early morning hours of Sunday, June 8, 2008 a fire swept through the Texas Governor's Mansion leaving the 152-year-old historical building heavily damaged.

Officials determined that the fire was deliberately started.¹

The State Fire Marshal reported that the fire was due to arson. The conclusion was made after investigators reviewed security camera footage.
