Relationship with Alicia Keys
In the summer of 2008, rumors spread that Swizz Beatz was cheating on his wife, Mashonda, with his friend, R&B singer Alicia Keys. Some reports indicate that Mashonda may have decided to file for divorce, hiring famed lawyer Bernard Clair, after finding an e-mail from Keys on Swizz's BlackBerry. Furthermore, Keys allegedly hosted a birthday party for Swizz at a New York Louis Vuitton store, referring to the producer as "my boo."1 Swizz denied the rumors to US Magazine on September 14, stating "I am disappointed that some have chosen to try and tarnish Alicia's reputation by irresponsibly implicating her in a situation that she has absolutely nothing to do with."2
