Surfer's Myelopathy
Surfer's myelopathy is a type of spinal cord injury that can inflict first-time surfers. However, it is not an injury that is caused by a traumatic impact to the spinal cord.
Surfer's myelopathy results in paralysis, usually from the waist down. The duration of the paralysis varies from person to person. While some people fully recover from surfer's myelopathy, others are permanently paralyzed.
