Super Bowl XXX

Guide Note:

The Dallas Cowboys defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-17 in Super Bowl XXX. After having the game taken away by the NFL due it's lack of recognition for the Martin Luther King Holiday three years earlier, the state of Arizona hosted it's first Super Bowl. The game marked the first time that a Super Bowl match-up of two teams had taken place for a third time. However, unlike the previous two meetings in Super Bowl X and Super Bowl XIII, the Cowboys beat the Steelers. The victory by Dallas allowed them to equal San Francisco for the most Super Bowl wins in history with 5. The loss by the Steelers would be their first in five lifetime Super Bowl appearances to that point. The television audience totaled 98.4 million, the largest ever for a televised sporting event in the United States. Defensive back Larry Brown registered two interceptions, both of which Dallas converted into touchdowns. As a result, Brown was named the game's Most Valuable Player.

Haley's Comet

Dallas defensive end Charles Haley had been a dominant pass rusher during his career. Having been a part of two title teams in San Francisco during the late 1980s, Haley then joined the Cowboys in 1992, and was part of the Cowboys three titles in four years run. This made Haley the first and only player in history to be a part of five Super Bowl championship teams.
