Steve Jobs is the current CEOand co-founder of Apple, Inc.. As of 2008, Apple has approximately 22,000 employees, $24 billion in annual sales and Apple's stock rose by more than 70% over within a year.1
Bloomberg news wire service accidentally published Jobs' obituary on August 28, 2008 and a retraction was immediately released.2

Early Years
Jobs was born in San Francisco, California and was adopted as in infant. He grew up just south of his birthplace in Cupertino, California. After graduating from Homestead High School, Jobs enrolled Reed College in Portland, Oregon. However, he dropped out after only one semester. In 1974, Jobs moved back to California before embarking on a spiritual journey to India.Not longer after returning to California, Jobs and Steve Wozniak founded Apple Computers.

Apple, Inc. went public in 1980 with the success of the Apple II. John Sculley, a former Pepsi executive, was hired by Jobs but the 1984 sales slump as well as the deteriorating relationship between Scully and Jobs, resulted in Jobs leaving Apple.
Other Projects
Jobs was the CEO and majority shareholder of Pixar until the animation studio was acquired by Disney in 2006. Jobs is on the board of directors at Disney.
In 1986, Jobs' founded NeXT. Although the company garnered a strong following for its sophisticated machinery, NeXT was unable to cross over into the mainstream. NeXT was purchased by Apple in 1996, returning Jobs back to Apple.
Jobs Returns to Apple
After the departure of Gil Amelio, Jobs became the interim CEO. Jobs regained the confidence of board of director with increased sales due to design developments and the introduction of the iMac. Jobs reestablished Apple as one of the most cutting-edge tech companies. With products such as the iPod and the iPhone, Apple became a household name again.
