Cleveland Rams
The team originally formed in Cleveland in 1936 as the second team of the American Football League. The following season, team founder Homer Marshman was contacted to join the NFL. Marchman paid the entry fee and brought over four players to start the NFL franchise.
In 1945, Bob Waterfield joined the Rams, leading them to a NFL Championship game. The rams defeated the Washington Redskins 15-14 to win the championship.
Los Angeles Rams
Following the 1945 championship, the team relocated to Los Angeles. This was also the same year that the league was integrated. The rams signed the first two African-Americans to ever play in the NFL, Kenny Washington and Woody Strode. The Rams won another NFL Championship in 1951, defeating the Cleveland Browns.
Los Angeles Rams in Anaheim
Following a Super Bowl loss in early 1980, the team moved to Anaheim, California although did not change their name. The Rams continued to play in Anaheim for the following 15 seasons.
St. Louis Rams
Early in 1995, long time owner Georgia Frontiere allowed the team to be moved to St. Louis, Missouri. Five years later the Rams won their first Super Bowl in 2000. The rams returned to the Super Bowl in 2002, losing to the New England Patriots.
