Speed Racer is a live action film adaptation of the popular Japanese animated television series from the 1960s, Speed Racer. The movie is directed by The Wachowski Brothers (who did The Matrix Films), and stars Emile Hirsch, Christina Ricci, John Goodman, Susan Sarandon and Matthew Fox.
The movie is about a kid named Speed Racer (Emile Hirsch who enters to race his car, the "Mach 5," in a dangerous competition called "The Crucible." With the help of his parents (John Goodman and Susan Sarandon), his girlfriend "Trixie" (Christina Ricci) and his one time rival "Racer X" (Matthew Fox), speed sets out to win the race and defeat the evil corporation, Royalton Industries.
