Solana Beach Shark Attack...

A 66 year old man was killed by a shark attack on April 25, 2008. The attack occurred approximately 150 yards off the coast, at Fletcher's Cove, near Solana Beach, California. This is the first attach noted in over 40 years, as well as only the third shark siting in the last 30 years.

Sequence of Events

Retired veterinarian Dave Martin went swimming early on the morning of April 25, 2008. At 7:00 a.m. he was attacked by a shark. Witnesses say he was pushed up out of the water. He was bitten across both legs. Friends who were swimming with him were able to get him to shore. He died at approximately 7:49 a.m. on the beach.
