Career
After forming in Chicago in 1988, the Pumpkins released their debut album Gish in 1991 with the help of producer Butch Vig. While the album was moderately successful, it wasn't until 1993's Siamese Dream that the band began to shake off comparisons to Jane's Addiction and Nirvana. That album sparked the massive hits "Today" and "Disarm" that helped the album sell over 4 million copies. While their next record, the double album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, debuted at #1, the bands next few albums were met with limited success. Corgan announced the breakup of the band in 2000, only to reform the band again in 2006 with a new lineup for the album Zeitgeist.
