Scorpions are easily recognized by their long stinger bearing tails, large claws and eight legs. All species carry venom but only about 25 of the 1400 recognized species carry venom strong enough to kill a human.¹

Scorpions belong to the class arachnida and are close relatives to ticks, mites and spiders. Scorpions are found in a variety of habitats including deserts, grasslands, forests and mountainous areas.¹
