A wildfire that broke out on May 22, 2008 in Santa Cruz, California destroyed 38 structures and about 570 other buildings are being threatened by the fire.

Three days later, the fire is still blazing strong and has grown to 3,800 acres and expected to grow to 4,000 acres.

Four firefighters have suffered minor injuries.

About 2,000 people were forced to evacuate their homes due to the fires. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger visited the location of the fires to access the situation. He declared a state of emergency in Santa Cruz county to allow access to the funds for effort.

On Sunday May 25, 2008, cooler and calmer weather helped to contain the fire. It's is 60% contained and should be completely detained by next week.

It is unknown what caused the fire to start, but is being investigated.
