Sallie Rohrbach

Insurance agent Sallie Rohrbach was reported missing on May 16, 2008 after her co-workers became concerned that she had not shown up for work and had not contacted them.

Insurance agent Michael Arthur Howell, was arrested on charges of homicide in connection with the Rohrbach disappearance. Police have not yet released the details as to how, or why he was charged with murder.

The body of Sallie Rohrbach was found on May 21, 2008. The discovery was made following information the Charlotte-Mecklenburg police received, leading them to search within five miles of the N.C. border. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

Sallie Rohrbach Missing

On Wednesday, May 14, 2008, Sallie Rohrbach, an agent for the North Carolina State Department of Insurance, left work to investigate a complaint.

That night she did not make a meeting scheduled with a friend. The next day she missed a meeting scheduled with her supervisor. When coworkers attempted to contact her, both her personal and work cell phones were turned off.

When she did not come into work on Friday, May 16, coworkers called the police.

Police found Rohrbach's car parked at a local fast-food restaurant on Sunday, May 18, 2008, but found no sign of her in or around the vehicle.

On May 19, 2008 40 year old insurance agent, Michael Arthur Howell, was arrested on charges of homicide in connection with the Rohrbach disappearance.

Howell's office had been under investigation by the state and Rohrbach had visited, or attempted to visit, the site on May 14, before her disappearance. Police have not disclosed the suspected connection between Howell and Rohrbach's disappearance.
