Robert Richards
Robert Richards, a 33-year-old band director from Columbia Junior Senior High School in Lancaster, Pennsylvania is accused of having sexual relations with a 16-year-old girl on multiple occasions. Court documents reveal that several of the encounters took place at his residence and on at least one occasion at the school.
Richards was arrested on April 7, 2008 at the school's district administration office. He was charged with statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault and corruption of minors. He was later released on $175,000 bail, however he is on paid leave from the school district.
Police officials report that they were given a tip about the relationship between Richards and the 16-year-old girl. They also found out that a rumor had been circulating around the school about the alleged relationship.
Additional details reported by WGAL.com indicate that Officer Miller, the first investigating officer on the case, received the tip about the relationship on March 25, 2008. The officer then interviewed the minor who admitted to having relations with Richards. Reportedly the encounters took place during April, May and November of 2007.
