The Red Hot Chili Peppers are a multiple Grammy Award-winning Rock band from Los Angeles, California whose career has spanned over two decades and included multiple line-up changes.

The original lineup of the Chili Peppers got together in Los Angeles in 1983 and signed to EMI Records shortly after. After their debut failed to generate much excitement, the band turned to Funkadelic legend George Clinton to produce their follow-up Freaky Styley. Shortly after the release of their third album, original member Hillel Slovak died of a drug overdose.

After regrouping with a new lineup and signing with Warner Bros. Records, the band recruited famed producer Rick Rubin to produce their next album. Blood Sugar Sex Magik became their brake though record, spawning a number of hit singles and catapulting them to the forefront of the Alternative Rock scene.

After guitarist John Frusciante quit the band in 1992, the band briefly played with ex-Jane's Addiction guitar player Dave Navarro. Frusciante re-joined the band again in 1998 and helped them release the album Californication which went on to become one of their best selling releases. The band continues to record and tour.
