Rangel Unreported Income
The New York Post reported that New York Congressman Charles Rangel did not report income in 2006 and 2007, but owns beach front property in the Dominican Republic. The article was published on August 31, 2008.1
On September 5, 2008, Rangel's attorney said that he earned $75,000 from renting out the villa but will likely file a tax amendment for the missing years. Additionally, Rangel's lawyer said that the congressman was unaware that he had to claim the money as income and his wife Alma Rangel is in charge of the family finances.2
