Porsche
Porsche is a German automobile manufacturing company that makes luxury and sports cars admired for their design and speed. Porsche produces only four models, most of which have not visually changed for decades. In 2009 the company plans to launch a sedan model, the Porsche Panamera.

History
Ferdinand Porsche, the founder of the company, was arrested in 1945 and accused of war crimes. He was held prisoner in France for 20 months and released without a trial. Ferry Porsche, Ferdinand's son, designed and made the firm's first car, the Porsche 365. A series of higher numbered models followed, the 911 becoming the most popular.
Racing
Porsche is a major player in auto racing. It is the world's largest race automobile maker and its cars have scored over 28,000 victories in various events, the most successful model being the 911. Porsche's main competitor is Ferrari, which cars differ in design and are more expensive.
Reputation and Awards
Porsche received multiple awards from many institutions and car related publications. According to the Luxury Institute in New York, "Porsche has been awarded first place in a survey conducted among the nation's top earners asking which luxury automobile brand is the most prestigious."
