The 75th Oscar Awards were presented on March 23, 2003 in Hollywood, less than one week after the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq. Chicago was named Best Picture, and major acting awards went to Adrien Brody, Nicole Kidman, Chris Cooper, and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Director Michael Moore's film Bowling for Columbine won Best Documentary, and during his acceptance speech Moore was both booed and cheered for his comments about a "fictitious President" and a "fictitious war".
