Criticism by PETA

Contrary to a common assumption, the animal rights organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is opposed to no-kill animal shelters, maintaining that such facilities are overpopulated and turn away unadoptable animals.³ PETA itself administers a shelter at its Virginia headquarters that has been criticized for euthanizing healthy animals.⁴
