Ninja Gaiden 2 Walkthrough
Ninja Gaiden 2 Walkthrough
Chapter 1 - Sky City of Tokyo
See the full Dragon Sword combo list below
- After the cutscene ends, it's time for your first battle against some Melee Ninjas.
- TIP: These enemies are categorized as "small," meaning they can be launched into the air with combos. You may consider using the Blade of the Empty Air (X Y) to slice the enemies into the air, where they cannot retaliate.
- NOTE: At level 2, you will acquire the Izuna Drop throw move, which comes in very handy during encounters against large numbers of Melee Ninjas. Focus on maxing out the Dragon Sword as quickly as possible.
- TIP: The dodge move, called Reverse Wind, should be used liberally in almost every battle in the game. Do this move by holding LT and pushing L in the direction you wish to dodge. This can get you out of tight situations.
- NOTE: Facing the building, there's a save point to your left, around the corner. Save after the Melee Ninjas are down.
- Now go inside the building and a cutscene occurs. Leave the building and go directly to your right, and down the stairs. Be ready for another fight with more Melee Ninjas. Defeat them using the techniques suggested above.
- After the battle is over, continue onward. Left of the opening, find a chest with a scroll describing the Reverse Wind technique.
- Head inside the entryway and go around the corner. A group of ninjas will attack you. Defeat them.
- At the end of the path ahead, you'll see another chest with a scroll inside describing the Shadowless Footsteps technique.
- Go down the ladders and yet another group of ninjas attack you. Defeat them all.
- TIP: It can be useful when outnumbered to defeat one enemy, use Reverse Wind to dodge slightly out of harm's way, then stop for a moment to charge up an Ultimate Technique (hold Y, either to level 1 [blue] or all the way to level 2 [red]), and then unleash it on the crowd. When you absorb "essence," it increases the power and length of Ryu's Ultimate Technique combos. This can be an effective means of crowd-control.
- You'll see a chest in a shrine-like area that teaches you The Art of the Inferno Ninpo.
- In a corner to your left and down, facing the shrine, you'll find another chest which teaches you the Furious Wind technique (this technique is exact same as Reverse Wind).
- NOTE: Ninpo can be equipped either by pausing and going to "scrolls," or pushing ↓ on the D-Pad and navigating to the Ninpo selection menu. Ninpo is a very effective way to deal with large crowds of enemies, and can take down bigger foes with a single blast. We found that the amount of available Red Orbs (which replenish Ninpo) was fairly plentiful throughout the game, so use Ninpo attacks whenever you feel the enemy is gaining the upper hand.
- To the right, you'll see something shining across the gap. Run and jump while hitting the Y button to use the Flying Swallow technique to get to the other side. Hit RB to pick up your first Crystal Skull(1).
- Blip.tv: Ninja Gaiden II Walkthrough - Chapter 1 - Part 1 (Time: 9:00)
- Now drop down to the bottom of the area, and be prepared for another ambush by some Melee Ninjas. Attack and defeat them all.
- There is a chest down in this area with Red Essence.
- Head up the stairs you see and be immediately attacked by more Ninjas. Once they are all defeated, make sure to open the chest for Lives of a Thousand Gods. This will permanently increase your maximum health.
- TIP: The four most useful techniques in this part of the game are "Fiercing Dragon's Fang(XXXXX), Tiger Roar(XXY), Seal of Ten(XX->XX) and Three Lights(XX->XY)
- After opening the chest, go up the stairs and into the door. Wall run to the other side, and climb up the ladders. Go up the stairs where you'll face more enemies. Kill them all. You should be pretty good at dodging, using air combos, Ninpos, and other techniques needed to keep crowds of Ninjas at bay.
- Now keep going forward and you'll run into a save point. Save your game.
- Wall climb up the wall and encounter another crowd of Ninjas. Obliterate them all with quick attacks. Dodge as needed.
- Achievement: Mastered Flying Bird Flip. You get this Achievement by running straight up a wall, and then pressing A at the peak to launch Ryu backwards off the wall into a slow, arcing back flip. This technique is useful for running away from a crowd of enemies, and can be combined with the Y button to trigger the Divine Cicada Slash move. This is a fairly powerful move.
- TIP: Remember when you're surrounded by a bunch of enemies at one time, you can use your Ninpo to unleash a powerful attack.
- Explore the area and you will be attacked by yes, more ninjas. When they're down, get in the water and explore the area a bit more.
- TIP: Whenever you encounter "Ninpo Ninjas" (the teleporting, fire-shooting variety), you should always kill them first. They are quite a bit more threatening than the normal Ninja variety. Use Flying Swallow to knock them down and keep them from teleporting. Once they're down finish them off with any ground combo of your choice.
- Go down into the water and go around a corner to open a chest on a boat with an Herb of Spiritual Life.
- Keep going that way, and go out in the open area. Turn left and open the chest to receive Life of the Gods. When you receive nine of these items, your maximum health will be permanently increased.
- Now continue back and get out of the water. Head towards another walkway and head down the path and be attacked by more Melee Ninjas. Defeat them.
- Go all the way down the pathway until you see a tree on your right. Wall jump off the tree to get to the upper level.
- Walk down the bridge a bit, and at the end you'll find another Crystal Skull(2).
- Blip.tv: Ninja Gaiden II Walkthrough - Chapter 1 - Part 2 (Time: 9:50)
- Near the end of the walkway, if you drop down there, you will be attacked. Swing on the bar to get to the other side if you want to avoid the battle (of course, then you'll miss out on the potential Yellow Orbs).
- NOTE: If you do fall down, there's a ladder to the left so you can get back up to the top.
- At the very end of the area, you'll be greeted with a save point. Save your game.
- Go up the stairs and click on the corpse with RB to receive The Flying Swallow Technique.
- TIP: The Flying Swallow technique has two main uses: the first use is that it's an extremely powerful and fast attack, which only the strongest enemies and bosses can block; the second is it allows you to jump forward much further than normal, and so can be used to get over cliffs and holes.
- Head down all the way and open a chest which contains the Herb of Spiritual Life.
- Go into the open area and defeat all the ninjas that start attacking you.
- Once they are defeated, a door opens revealing a statue. Go inside and to your left will be a chest with some Red Orbs and a save point to your right. Save your game.
- Now go to the statue and hit the RB button to finally obtain a new weapon, the Lunar Staff. See the full Lunar Staff combo list below
- Now practice with your new found weapon for awhile. Take note of its Bladed Spider Technique (Y Y), which can be used to deflect incoming ranged attacks.
- When you're ready, head down those stairs to your right facing the statue and press RB to interact with the dead body.
- Start heading across the bridge and encounter another crowd of Ninjas. Defeat them all.
- TIP: Make sure to learn all the new combos that come along with the Lunar Staff, they will come in handy as you advance through the level.
- Greet the dead body and you'll receive a notebook that reads Obliteration Technique.
- Keep going further, and enter the building.
- TIP: To your right, destroy that picture to enter a secret area. Destroy all the vases on the ground for essence and open the chest for Grains of Spiritual Life.
- Head outside again and be attacked by more vicious Ninjas.
- TIP: Use the surrounding walls for wall-climbing attacks.
- Go inside the other part of the building in front of you and open the chest. Enemies break through a section and start attacking. Kill every last one of them.
- Blip.tv: Ninja Gaiden II Walkthrough - Chapter 1 - Part 3 (Time: 9:29)
- Outside again you'll find a hidden Muramasa Shop. Upgrade any weapons you want with Yellow Essence. (Recommended: Upgrade the Dragon Sword. You'll be using the Dragon Sword throughout the whole game, so it's important to get it maxed out as soon as possible).
- Drop down the hole you see and kick the door in. Use your (unlimited) Shurikens to take out the bats quickly and easily.
- Head down the platforms and examine the dead body for another notebook that explains the Shadowless Footsteps technique.
- Continue ahead and drop down. Defeat the Ninjas that attack you.
- Open up the chest for an Herb of Spiritual Life.
- Blip.tv: Ninja Gaiden II Walkthrough - Chapter 1 - Part 4 (Time: 1:28)
- Go back the same way you came and wall run to the next set of platforms. From here go forward until you reach a chest that contains more health.
- Head back the other way and you should see an opening on the left side of the platform. Drop down to the bottom. On your immediate right will be a dead body with a notebook that explains the Furious Wind technique.
- Make your way to the right and more Ninjas appear. Use Flying Swallow technique and air combos to take them all down. Continue on as a cutscene starts rolling.
- Once the cutscene ends, you'll be in another building fighting more enemies. There's a save point here, so save your game after all the enemies are dead.
- Go through the door and encounter a huge mob of enemies. As usual, use quick attacks with your Dragon Sword and Ninpo when you need to.
- Head down the hall, destroying anything you see for Essence. Go all the way down the stairs for a chest that contains a Devil Way Mushroom. This item can be used to replenish one of your Ninpo slots.
- Now go back up, but this time, take the upstairs path and encounter more enemies.
- Continue further up the stairs and open up another chest that contains a Cracked Card Key.
- Now go back down stairs again and out in the open area where the elevators are. On your right will be a door that you can unlock with the "Cracked Card Key" you found.
- Above you will be a vent system that you can get into. Enter the vent, keep going until you need to wall climb all the way to the top. More enemies arrive. Take them all down.
- In this area you'll find another Muramasa Shop. If you have enough Essence, definitely upgrade one of your weapons.
- TIP: If you have nowhere near enough to upgrade one of your weapons, it can be wise to max yourself out on Grains of Spiritual Life or Herbs of Spiritual Health.
- Go around the corner, through the hole, and be greeted with a save point. Save your game.
- Go up those stairs and be attacked by more ninjas. Destroy them all.
- Blip.tv: Ninja Gaiden II Walkthrough - Chapter 1 - Part 5 (Time: 9:39)
- Open up the door and go through it and a cutscene occurs. Be ready for a boss fight!
BOSS: Shadow Ninja Rasetsu
- This boss can be very tough if you're not careful, but if you're prepared shouldn't be too much of a problem. One of his attacks is a tornado, and he'll attack you with all four of his claws at times. If you're too close and idle for too long, he'll grab you and swing you around like a rag doll. Keep flipping and dodging, but whenever he lunges at you block. Attack him head on with a series of short combos, such as Tiger Roar (X X Y), then dodge back out of range.
- TIP: The Flying Swallow does not effectively work against him, since the technique rarely ever connects. He'll just keep blocking it.
- When he takes enough damage, he'll be stunned for a brief time, so finish him off with a few more slashes and the battle will be over. A cutscene starts which ends chapter 1.
- Achievement: Finished Chapter 1
- Blip.tv: Ninja Gaiden II Walkthrough - Chapter 1 - Boss Fight (Time: 3:44)
Chapter 2 - The Castle of the Dragon
- Go through the archway to a few Ninjas in the graveyard. When they're down, go down the stairs and encounter more Ninjas. Defeat them all, there's only two. The staff works well with only a couple enemies to fight in this section.
- A mini-cutscene occurs introducing Ninja Dog enemy. Kill it using the Dragon Sword. You'll need to use fast weapons to take out Ninja Dogs, since they're rather swift and can overwhelm Ryu if you're not careful. Additionally, they shoot incendiary shurikens. Use Flying Swallow (Y while jumping forward) to dart circles around them (and avoid their shurikens), and close in when you're ready.
- Go around the corner after stocking up at the nearby store, to a whole crowd of Ninja Dogs. Beware of their incendiary shurikens, and use the techniques suggested above.
- Find a notebook on a corpse explaining the Reverse Wind technique.
- Find an Herb of Spiritual Life on another corpse in the area.
- Get in the water. At the bottom of the water bed there is a Crystal Skull(3).
- There are archers on the landing on the other side of the water. Use shurikens to hold them off until you can reach land, then annihilate them.
- Proceed up the path and to the left, and then to the right where you'll find a corpse with a scroll explaining the Counter Attack ABILITY (push X or Y when blocking).
- Go up the stairs to start another battle. It's best to cut back so the Melee Ninjas follow you, where you're out of range of the archers. Stay on the flat landing area near the save point for the duration of the battle, since you have more room there. The archers are helpless once you get in close range. You can use the shurikens to hold them off. You can also wall run to close the distance in the passage way.
- Proceed to the next flat open area where there are more Ninjas. You have a lot of room here, so you concentrate on putting together some long, careful combos.
- ACHIEVEMENT: Mastered Counter Attack
- Use counter attack as much as possible during these battles (hold X or Y while blocking).
- Find a scroll on the corpse that explains Ultimate Guidance.
- Go up the stairs and follow the path. Kill the Melee Ninjas first on the ground, then wall jump up to the archers on the towers and eliminate them.
- Find the chest on the right archer-tower with an Herb of Spiritual Life.
- Follow the path and encounter more Ninjas. Take them all out.
- Continue up the path and find more archers up on the towers. Close the distance quickly, use wall run to climb up to them, and eliminate them up on the towers.
- Go up the stairs to continue. Two enemies will meet you on the step, and more will follow down the steps.
- TIP: Stay down on the landing and let them come to you. When in doubt use shurikens to eliminate enemies from a distance.
- Enter the caves and kill the Ninjas that immediately attack you.
- Wall jump up out of the caves, and cue the dramatic music. You will be greeted by a crowd of enemies. Use the corners to hide from the archers, and wear them down with Shurikens.
- Go up the wooden pathway and eliminate the archers first, then double back and kill the melee enemies. If you do not do this, the archers will wear you down from a distance. The staff can be useful during this section, as the enemies are fewer.
- Follow the wooden path up where there is a door and a chest on the right. kill the enemies first with the staff, and then open the chest to find Blue Orbs which refill your health.
- Go inside the door, and follow the path up. There are archers up in the windows, so beware. Around the corner up the steps, find an Herb of Spiritual Life in a chest. Again, the staff is a good weapon for this section.
- More enemies approach, including Ninpo Ninjas. Take out the Ninpo Ninjas first and foremost, then focus on the normal Ninjas. Retreat a bit if you need to, and the enemies will give chase.
- Go up the steps and follow the path. Find a corpse with a scroll explaining the Ultimate Technique. Take the ramp up onto the roof where more enemies wait. The staff is superb at this section.
- Once they're eliminated, drop down into the building through the hole, and encounter a crowd of ninjas.
- Find a save point in this first room, and the Fiend's Bane Bow on the wall in the hallway.
- Puzzle: You'll need to use the BOW to shoot the glowing portal through the gap in the door. find arrows immediately to the right of the door before going through.
Sub-Boss - Ninja Shadow Rasetsu - Second Encounter
- TIP: Use every Ninpo you have on the boss, as this will drastically reduce his health.
- TIP: Kill one of the surrounding lesser enemies, draw their essence (hold Y), and unleash an Ultimate Technique on the boss. This is the best way to kill this boss. You might also consider using a Ninpo attack specifically on a lesser enemy, and then draw their essence.
- Blocking is your friend in this fight.
- Use the Staff, run to a wall, run up the wall, and use the Phantom Moon attack (Y while jumping) to wear down the boss's health. Don't run in circles. If you need to run, run to a wall.
- Blip.tv: Ninja Gaiden II Walkthrough - Chapter 2 - Sub-Boss Fight (Time: 2:41)
- After the mini-boss is down, go through the door to the right around the corner and find a chest with Red Essence.
- Go to the left, under the steps, and find another chest with a Grains of Spiritual Life.
- Go up the steps, and fight the enemies that appear there. The staff works well here, since the enemies are usually in pairs.
- Go up the steps. There are archers in the distance. Use shurikens to wear them down until you can close the distance.
- Go around the corner and save at the save point.
- Find the nearby scroll explaining the Technique of Unrivaled Soaring.
- Smash through the wall to the right up the steps. Once you go through the door, there will be archers on the ledge across the room hitting you. Use your newfound BOW at this section to eliminate the archers.
- TIP: A useful technique with the BOW is to jump, and then tap B twice, which will fire two arrows during the jump. Jumping also auto-aims the BOW at the nearest enemy you are facing.
- PUZZLE: Right at the landing, the statues are missing two yin-yang symbols, and you have to find them.
- You have to do Unrivaled Soaring to the right, over to where the archers are. break through the wall on the new landing area, and fight the enemies there. Use the Dragon Sword, as the Lunar Staff is a bit slow in a crowd such as this.
- Ninpo Ninjas appear. Eliminate them as soon as possible, using Flying Swallow to get in the first hit.
- This whole "back stage" area is interconnected. Go around the corner, and find a chest with an HERB OF SPIRITUAL HEALTH. There is also a Crystal Skull(4) in the area. Don't forget to also collect both yin-yang symbols while you're back there.
- Go back and activate the statue. You'll need to then shoot the glowing portal to the left of the giant statue in the middle of the room with the BOW. This lowers a platform, and lets you go in the statues mouth. once you do so, save your game at the save point.
- Exit the area up onto the roof, where there are many Ninpo Ninjas. Draw essence from downed enemies (Y, hold), using the staff, and unleash Ultimate Techniques.
- Once they're all eliminated, follow the roof up, and go through a hole in the building back down into the building. There are archers in the new room. Use the BOW (remember to jump/shoot) to take them out.
- Go inside and follow the path to the right, where there is a group of Ninjas. Eliminate them. Then find a chest with a Lives of a Thousand Gods. Use it, which will increase your maximum health.
- Go up the steps to the next level. You'll encounter another group of ninjas. Take them down.
- TIP: If you've upgraded the Dragon Sword to level 2 at this point, the Izuna Drop technique will come in very handy for dealing with crowds of Ninjas.
- Once they're gone, follow the path around the corner, and open the door in the middle of the area. Watch the cutscene. Some bad people are stealing the demon statue from the Hayabusa family.
Boss Fight - Genshin
- He has the ability to break your guard after a few hits, so don't rely too heavily on guard.
- NOTE: Genshin is impervious to Ninpo attacks, use the sword only.
- NOTE: Genshin is also impervious to Flying Swallow, so stick to ground combos, such as Tiger Roar (X X Y) and Fang of the Wolf (X X Y Y).
- Immediately start dodging, left-to-right, while he tries to attack you with his combos.
- The main idea here is to use Reverse Wind (LT + L, a.k.a. "dodge") non stop, until he has finished his combo, at which point you'll have a short window of opportunity to hit him before he starts up again. If you are too far away from him after he's finished his combo, chances are you'll move in to attack and he'll start attacking again and hit you.
- The battle can last a while, so be patient, stay relatively close to him at all times, and just hit him with little 3-4 hit combos right after he has finished his own. It will probably take a few tries to get the timing down.
- BEWARE OF: His attack where he jumps in the air spinning and slashing you repeatedly, it takes a lot of health.
- BEWARE OF: His Ultimate Technique, which you can easily dodge but will take a lot of health if it connects.
- DO NOT USE: Ninpo, Flying Swallow (Y while jumping forward)
- Achievement: Finished Chapter 2
- Blip.tv: Ninja Gaiden II Walkthrough - Chapter 2 - Boss Fight (Time: 4:38)
Chapter 3 - Thunderclap of Catastrophe
- Right when the level starts there is a Muramasa shop to the right and a chest that contains an Herb of Spiritual Life in the adjacent alley (watch for bats, use shurikens).
- Buy the Falcon's Talons from Muramasa and proceed forward.
- See the full Falcon's Talons combo list below.
- You will be attacked a group of Demon Spawns. They can be pretty tough, and you might not want to use the Falcon's Talons against them. Use the Dragon Sword, and focus on fighting one Demon Spawn at a time. Use Flying Swallow (Y while jumping forward) to attack them from a distance. Don't bother trying to launch them into the air, as this does not work on large enemies.
- When they're down, proceed straight through Times Square and go through the corridor at the end. Search the corpse and you will be granted the ART OF THE WIND BLADES Ninpo.
- Turn the corner and you will be met by a cluster of Ninjas. This batch of enemies is a good point to learn to use the Falcon's Talons.
- Go past the stairs and open the chest for an Herb of Spiritual Life.
- Head up the stairs and take out the archers quickly.
- When you first enter the building area, go up the stairs and soon you'll find a Crystal Skull(5).
- You will come to a broken ladder. Wall-jump back and forth between the two walls to get to the roof where Ninpo Ninjas await.
- After the Ninpo Ninjas are down, Flying Demons attack. Use the Fiend's Bane Bow to take them out. If you run out of arrows there is a body in the corner with an unlimited supply.
- TIP: The Flying Demons can be persistent and damaging, especially since the bow and arrow is a slow weapon. Jump, and get two shots off before landing each time. Use this technique over and over until all of the Flying Demons are down.
- NOTE: Before wall jumping up the shaft, save your game.
- With the flying creatures gone, archers begin firing at you from a roof across the alley. Again, use the jump-attack with the Fiend's Bane Bow to eliminate the archers from a distance.
- Directly below you on a ledge is a crate with a Devil Way Mushroom. Drop down to get it.
- After you get the Devil Way Mushroom, drop all the way down to the bottom and encounter a group of Ninja Dogs. Destroy all of them and continue on.
- Use wall-run on the shaft to your right, and then use the ladder up on the landing to bet back up to the top.
- The pole you see there, grab it to shimmy to the other side.
- More ninjas will attack you. After they are dead and gone, go back to the other side and drop down again. You'll encounter another group of Ninjas. Use Flying Swallow (Y while jumping forward) to maintain control over them.
- There's a save point in the corner. Save your game.
- After you save, turn around and go through the little alley and find a chest containing an Herb of Spiritual Life.
- Drop down to the ground and encounter a group of shuriken-throwing Ninjas. Get rid of them all. Keep moving while fighting them. You can use Reverse Wind (LT + L) and Counter Attack (X or Y while blocking) to your advantage in situations such as this.
- At one of the corners near the end of the street find a chest containing an Herb of Spiritual Life. At the other corner find a corpse containing a scroll that reads "The Greater Fiends Part 1".
- You'll soon be attacked by a group of Demon Spawns. Eliminate them. Remember not to use attacks that launch them into the air, as this will not work. Use Flying Swallow (Y while jumping forward), Counter Attack (X or Y while blocking), ground combos, and Obliteration Techniques (hold Y near a wounded enemy) to take them out. Demon Spawns are even more dangerous when wounded, so focus on one enemy at a time if you can.
- As you continue onward more Demon Swpams ambush you. If you're not using the Dragon Sword, it is recommended to use it since it's the most effective against them. Head towards the second batch's spawning point, walk forward to the only available place, and watch the cutscene.
- A Flying Demon starts attacking you along with Demon Spanws. Make good use of whatever health packs you have at this point. Block, dodge, roll. Flip around as much as you can, and Flying Swallow them (Y while jumping forward) with your sword until they have been destroyed.
- TIP: If you have any Ninpo, put it to good use here.
- There will be a hole in the ground. Jump through it and save your game at the save point.
- From here, continue making your way through the underground tunnel. More Demon Spawns and bats will attack you. After you eliminate them, continue onward.
- Find a corpse with a Jewel of the Demon Seal near a dead end on your right.
- TIP: Go back and save your game if you feel it's necessary.
- Go to the other side, opposite the dead body and use the ladder. Go all the way down on the ledges to get some Red Orbs from a chest.
- Now go back and you'll notice some sparks. Enter that small opening and open the chest for an Herb of Spiritual Life.
- Drop down to the lower level and wait for another battle with some Demon Spawns. #When they're gone, drop down into the water. Head back to ground level and wait for some bats to attack. Make quick work of them with the shurikens.
- Interact with the corpse to receive a scroll explaining Unrivaled Soaring.
- After you get the scroll, go up the ladder and wall climb to the ledge. Keep wall-running until you see a chest which contains an Herb of Spiritual Life.
- NOTE: You will see a pole ahead. Jump to it, and swing to the next landing across the water. If you fall, you'll have to go all the way back around a detour section to get back up.
- TIP: Before swinging to the other side, use the Fiend's Bane Bow on the Demon Spawns on the next landing.
- When you get to the other side, finish off any other demons that didn't die the first time around.
- Wall-run to the next area, and encounter another batch of Demon Spawns. Eliminate them and move on.
- Drop down and find a corpse on the ground and refill your arrow supply.
- Continue onward, and encounter more Demon Spawns. Remember that sometimes the best technique is to play it safe and use Ninpo. Otherwise, focus on one Demon Spawn at a time, make use of Flying Swallow (Y while jumping forward), Counter Attack (Y or X while blocking), Obliteration Techniques (hold Y near a wounded enemy) and Ultimate TechniqueS (draw essence holding Y).
- TIP: Make sure to use the Dragon Sword against Demon Spawns, rather than the Lunar Staff since it's too slow.
- Wall jump up to the top area save your game at the save point.
- After saving, wall-jump to to next higher area, and encounter a crowd of Demon Spawns.
- When they're down, move forward until you find a bunch of walls close together. Jump in the water and swim to the very end for a chest that contains Life of the Gods. Use it.
- TIP: You can run on top of the water by pressing the A button rapidly.
Now swim back to the top, get out of the water and wall-climb to the top. Turn around and wall-run all the way to the other side to find another Crystal Skull.
- Achievement: Mastered Invisible Path
- Now go back the other way, back to where you found the save point (with the wall climbing structure). Wall-climb to the top and continue on.
- Use the pole above to shimmy across to the other side. Before doing so, swing from it and find a nearby Herb of Spiritual Life.
- Get back on the pole and shimmy to the next ledge. Wall-run to the other side and encounter a group of Ninjas. There will be an archer at the end on top of a ledge. Quickly kill all of the ninjas, then wall-run to the top of the ledge and deal with the archer.
- A Muramasa Shop is also here, so upgrade whatever weapons you want.
- Go through the door and encounter a group of archers and Ninjas. Let the Ninjas follow you out so the archers can't shoot you. Deal with them, then use your bow to kill the archer on the other side from a distance.
- TIP: When you are in situations like these, and a wall is blocking them from shooting you, slightly peak out a door or window and use your bow to kill them.
- Enter the door again and drop down. You'll be attacked by more Demon Spawns. Eliminate them.
- TIP: Be careful of the fans as they will deal some damage to you if you get too close. Deal with the rest of the Demon Spawns, and then hop to the right ledge and examine the dead body for some Incendiary ShurikenS.
- Throw the Incendiary Shuriken at the spinning fan to make it stop, and head through it and down deeper into the tunnel system.
- More Ninjas will soon attack you. Dispose of them quickly and continue on.
- Use the ladder to get back on the ledge and deal with another archer.
- NOTE: There is also another spinning fan on the opposite side facing the first one you stopped. Make the fan stop and go on through it. Once through, shoot the other fan's blue crystal looking ball and head on through. Get the chest on the ledge at the end which contains an Herb of Spiritual Life.
- Now go all the way back to the first fan and head on through again. Explore a bit if you have the desire. There will be a pole up top that you can swing from to enter a new area in the water. Bats will attack you so just make haste and destroy them all. Remember to use the Shurikens.
- When you're ready, get back into the water and swim underwater through all of those tunnels until you're able to get back out of the water again. Bats will attack you, so use the Shurikens.
- Save your game at the save point. There's a dead body with arrows if you need them.
- Go through the nearby doorway and wall-climb to the top, where archers will start shooting at you. Use the Fiend's Bane Bow to eliminate them.
- Now get on the ledge in front of you and keep wall-running until you get to another ledge. Open the chest for Red Orbs.
- Now turn around and jump to next section, where you'll encounter more Demon Spawns. Kill them.
- NOTE: Across the way, you'll see a save point but you can't wall-run to it. If you try and drop down, you'll be attacked by more Demon Spawns.
Once the demons are dead, head around the side along the curving path.
- You'll find a corpse with a scroll explaining the Technique of the Invisible Path.
- After obtaining the scroll, hop onto the ledge and buy whatever you need from the Muramasa Shop.
- Continue onward and encounter another group of ninjas. When they're down, go straight up the path and destroy the archers across the way.
- Save your game at the save point.
- From your current position jump to the ground and prepare for another battle with Melee Ninjas and Archers. Take out the archers first, then the lesser Ninjas.
- Wall-run up the right wall into the train. Go the the very end of it and go back outside to the left, to a new area.
- This triggers a difficult battle with a crowd of Demon Spawns and Half-Dragon Demons. Use your Ninpo as necessary if you run into trouble. Keep moving around, dodging, rolling out of the way of their attacks and of course blocking. Use the surrounding walls to your advantage, and Flying Swallow (Y while jumping forward) to bring the Half-Dragon Demons down to ground level.
- After they're dead, continue through the rest of the underground tunnel system and a cutscene occurs. Prepare for another boss battle.
Boss - GigaDeath
- This boss has electrical attacks. If you're not in range of it, he'll start spitting electrical bolts at you, many at a time. Your primary weapon against GigaDeath should be the Fiend's Bane Bow. Charge it up, and fire it right as his head and he curves around from a distance. Be quick however since as soon as he turns around he'll shoot you with more bolts.
- NOTE: Do not get too close to GigaDeath or you'll take damage. You cannot touch GigaDeath.
- The boss will keep flying around the area, spitting bolts at you and electrocuting you if you get too close.
- Use Ninpo attacks if you have any and continue to use the Fiend's Bane Bow. If you can get in close range of him, you can slowly chop away his health with the lunar staff, but be careful.
- When threatened enough, GigaDeath will unleash exploding, flying creatures on you, which are difficult to avoid.
- NOTE: If you get too close to GigaDeath's head, he will chomp you in his mouth, dealing major damage.
- TIP: You will need to flip around a lot in this battle, because staying still will cause him to directly hit with his lightning bolts.
- Keep using the strategies suggested above, and he'll eventually go down, ending the chapter.
- Achievement: Finished Chapter 3

Chapter 4 - A Captive Goddess
- Watch the cutscene. When you regain control of Ryu, you will still be in the train system. Upgrade your weapons and restock at the nearby Muramasa shop before heading out.
- When ready, continue down the tunnel and encounter a group of Ninjas. Defeat them all and continue onward.
- You will encounter another crowd of Ninjas as you proceed forward. Eliminate them.
- TIP: At this point you should definitely be using the Izuna Drop (X Y X X X Y) throw technique to control crowds of Ninjas. This gives you a chance to systematically deal with a large crowd one-by-one. Also, the Guillotine Throw technique (X + A jumping towards enemy) can divide your enemies, and if well aimed can damage any surrounding enemies in the way.
- When the Ninjas are down continue onward. There will be a hole at the end of the path. Drop down and encounter another group of Melee Ninjas. When they're down, eplore the area.
- Keep heading down the tunnel to your right. More Ninjas attack you. Eliminate them.
- After they're down continue down the path and a find chest to your left with Red Orbs.
- TIP: Again, when you're in doubt, use Ninpo attacks on groups of enemies. #Continue forward. You will encounter Demon Spawns and Flying Demons. In order of priority, first eliminate the Flying Demons (remember to jump using the Fiend's Bane Bow, and get two shots off in a single jump), then the Demon Spawns. For the Demon Spawns, remember to make good use of Obliteration Techniques, Flying Swallow and Ninpo if needed.
- When the demons are cleared jump onto the main floor and save your game at the save point.
- Continue up the ladder for a battle with more Melee Ninjas and Ninpo Ninjas. Remember to eliminate the Ninpo Ninjas first, as they can be a problem.
- When the Ninjas are down, go through the rotating doorway and find a corpse with some ARROWS.
- Head down to your left and find a chest containing a Devil Way Mushroom.
- Another batch of ninjas will attack you. Kill them. When they're gone, go up the stairs and examine the locked doorway. Use your incendiary shurikens to destroy the fire canisters on the other side, which will blow open the door.
- Keep heading up the stairs and destroy any enemies along the way.
- When you're back out in the open area, a mob of Ninja Dogs will ambush you.
- TIP: The Ninja Dogs are very quick. Keep evading their attacks by using Reverse Wind (LT + L), blocking whenever you can and also use your Ninpo if you have any. Keep moving so they can't hit you with incendiary shurikens.
- When they're eliminated, keep heading down the path. You will come to an area overlooking the ocean.
- More Ninjas and Ninpo Ninjas will attack you. Deal with them using Izuna Drop, Flying Swallow, Ninpo and other crowd-control techniques.
- Head forward under the bridge. To your immediate right find an alley way with more Ninjas. Eliminate them, make a left and continue on.
- To your right find a corpse with an Herb of Spiritual Life.
- Turn around, and up on the top of the ledge find a Crystal Skull. If you're facing the skull, you need to wall-run up the wall and onto the next wall to obtain it.
- Continue onward, and you'll be out of the ally and into the open area again. #Save #Save your game at the save point, and stock up at the Muramasa shop.
- When you continue forward, More Ninjas will attack. At the very end of the path to your right, find some exploding canisters. Blow them up to reveal a chest containing Red Orbs.
- Next to the save point find a ladder. Climb it to the top area. Examine the dead body for a Jewel of the Demon Seal. Explore the area a bit.
- When you're ready, use a jump slash to get to the other bridge and continue on until you find a chest containing a Talisman of Rebirth.
- NOTE: In order to use the Talisman of Rebirth, you'll need to equip it in the items menu. Save the Talisman of Rebirth for difficult boss battles.
- Go back to the previous area, and continue forward, all the way around the corner.
- Flying Demons will attack you. Use the Fiend's Bane Bow to eliminate them.
- At the very end of the path find a chest containing an Herb of Spiritual Life. #Across the way you will see Crystal Skull on a ledge. To reach it, use Flying Swallow. If you fall, simply wall-climb back up and get back on the bridge to try again.
- Once you have the skull, drop back down and head to the right and find a Muramasa shop. Upgrade and restock. Open the chest across from from the shop for a Life of the Gods.
- When you're ready, head back the way you came and fight a crowd of Demon Spawns. Kill them all.
- Wall-climb back to the top and jump on the bridge, then jump slash to the ledge where you found the skull and climb the ladders to the top. Jump to the open area and be ready for several more Demon Spawns and Flying Demons. Use Ninpo if you have, since battles like this can be overwhelming. Don't stay idle near Demon Spawns for too long, as they can grab you and deal major damage.
- Now continue down the path and examine the dead body for more arrows. Go up the ladder and drop down. Save your game at the save point.
- Facing the save point, head to your left and take out of those Flying Demons. At the end of the path find a chest that contains Grains of Spiritual Life.
- TIP: Remember that the best way to destroy Flying Demons is by jumping and shooting bows at them.
- Go back the other way, past the save point. Continue and trigger the cutscene.
Sub-Boss - Giant Brute Fiend
- TIP: In order to make this boss fight less frantic, go directly underneath the beast and him with short combos. After you've slashed him up for some damage, Reverse Wind out of range for safety. He will stomp the ground at times but keep attacking. This is one of your best bets.
- TIP: Keep running in circles. Because of his lack of speed, he won't be able to hit you if you continually run circles around him.
- TIP: Definitely make good use of your Ninpo if you have any, since a direct hit will cause a good amount of damage.
- Stay away from his mouth at all times. You need to avoid his breath attack, which can kill you in one hit if you're not careful. Instead stay either directly under him, to his side or in back of him.
- Avoid his attack where he hits the ground with his massive fists. Use Flying Swallow and Reverse Wind to dodge away from the blast radius.
- If you get too close, he'll hit you with his mighty fists which can take off quite a bit of health. He'll also throw rocks at you if you're not in close range.
- Do your best to avoid his grab attack. If he does grab you, he smashes you into the ground about three times before letting go.
- TIP: It is possible to stun the Giant Brute Fiend if he takes enough quick damage. When you see him slump over, either move in close and unload combos on him, or charge up an Ultimate Technique to finish him off.
- Defeating him will trigger a cutscene.
- Blip.tv: Ninja Gaiden II Walkthrough - Chapter 4 - Sub-Boss Fight (Time: 2:12)
- When you regain control over Ryu, you will be immediately tossed into another battle with a group of Demon Spawns and Flying Demons. As always, prioritize the Flying Demons first, then the Demon Spawns.
- After the demons are eliminated, continue into the building ahead. Refill your arrows from the corpse.
- Ninjas will attack soon after you enter the building. Take them down.
- Continue forward and save your game at the save point. You'll need to break the glass to get to it.
- Directly to the left of the save point find a new weapon, the Dragon's Claw and Tiger's Fang. Break the glass to obtain the new weapon.
- See the full Dragon's Claw and Tiger's Fang combo list below.
- Continue forward and encounter a group of Ninjas. After they're down, explore what looks like a museum.
- hen ready, continue through a short series of doorways until you get to a new area with more Ninjas. You're in the right place if you see a huge statue in the center that resembles fire. Kill all of the Ninjas.
- After they're defeated, use the stairs and to your right and you will be a broken section of wall, leading to the upper level. Wall-run up to it, and find a corpse with containing a Devil Way Mushroom.
- Head back the other way, and go through the hole in the wall. You will be attacked by another group of Demon Spawns.
- TIP: If you've learned a few combos with the Lunar Staff, this can be an effective weapon against the Demon Spawns. Also bear in mind, later in the game you will receive the Eclipse Scythe, a much somewhat similar weapon to the Lunar Staff, but much more powerful. Demon Spawns won't always be as much of a threat.
- After they're dead, find a chest in the corner containing an Herb of Spiritual Life.
- Facing the building, to your right there will be a stairway leading to another open area with more Demon Spawns and Flying Demons. Destroy the Flying Demons first, then the Demon Spawns. Remember to jump and shoot the Fiend's Bane Bow, which makes destroying them a lot easier.
- Take the open set of stairs on the right up to the top of the building. Purple demons ambush you again so get rid of them quickly.
- Take the left path and go up the stairs. You will encounter another group of Demon Spawns. Eliminate them using Ninpo, ground combos, the Lunar Staff, or other previously suggested techniques.
- When you're ready, look for a doorway that leads back into the museum. Ninjas and archers will attack you. Take out the archers as soon as you can, then focus on the Ninjas.
- Find a chest in a corner containing a Lives of a Thousand Gods. Use it.
- Go up the stairs and save your game at the save point.
- Go back downstairs and jump onto the structure ahead. Continue onward.
- Drop down to the lower level, and enter the elevator. Wall jump to the upper level and encounter more Ninjas.
- Take the stairs halfway up, and observe the ledges ahead that you can jump to. Wall-run forward along the walls and fall onto one of the ledges. Wall-run again to reach the other side.
- Drop down and open up the chest containing Red Orbs.
- Continue up the stairs and there will be a door that leads outside. To your right find a chest with a Life of the Gods. Here you'll also be attacked by more Flying Demons. Dispose of them using the Fiend's Bane Bow.
- When the demons are eliminated go back inside and head further up the stairs. Stock up at the Muramasa shop. Also, find the corpse with a Devil Way Mushroom.
- Now head up the spiral staircase and there will be an opening half way up. Wall-run up the wall in front of it and continue until you're at the top.
- Defeat the enemies that attack you. When they're down, examine the corpse to your right for a scroll that reads "The Four Greater Fiends: Part 2".
- Now enter the spiral staircase and head all the way up. Watch the cutscene.
Boss - Alexei
- TIP: The only real strategy here is to stay on the offense. Stay very close, and use the Dragon Sword to get in quick ground combos. If you move too far out of range, Alexei will use his nearly unblockable ranged attacks. Ninpo attacks are unfortunately very unreliable in this battle, since he will usually block them using his tornado technique, but they can work occasionally and are good for getting you out of a tight spot.
- TIP: Use Flying Swallow a lot in this battle.
- BEWARE: Watch of for his spinning tornado attack. Use Reverse Wind to dodge out of the way.
- BEWARE: If you stay idle next to him for too long, he will hold you up in the air and hit you around two or three times before letting you go. Keep moving.
- Alexei will also fly and teleport around the area so watch out for that. Try and constantly attack him, and only use Reverse Wind for a short period of time before starting your attacks again.
- When he's down watch the cutscene. This will conclude Chapter 4.
- Achievement: Vanquish Alexei
- Achievement: Finished Chapter 4
- Blip.tv: Ninja Gaiden II Walkthrough - Chapter 4 - Boss Fight (Time: 2:41)
Chapter 5 - The Aqua Capital
- After the cutscene, jump in the water and swim around a bit, getting a feel for your surroundings. Soon you'll be attacked by Melee and Ninpo Ninjas. Get rid of them.
- Once they're gone, make your way forward. Before going up the stairs, stock up at the Muramasa shop to your right. When you're done continue up the stairs.
- At the top of the stairs you'll encounter a new enemy, the Beastman. The Beastman is about as difficult as the Demon Spawn, and likewise cannot be launched into the air. Focus on ground combos, Flying Swallow and Ninpo attacks. Also, don't forget Obliteration Techniques, which render Ryu invincible during the animation. Beastmen are much more dangerous when wounded.
- Find a corpse next to a set of stairs leading down. Examine it to obtain a new weapon, the Kusari-gama.
- See the full Kusari-gama combo list below
- Now head back upstairs and go across the bridge to your left. Head down the stairs at the end and into a marketplace.
- Continue onward. Go down the pathway to your left, and save your game at the save point.
- Kick in the doorway to the left of the save point. Beastmen will attack you.
- TIP: You can try out your newly acquired Kusari-gama on the Beastmen if you wish. However, the Kusari-gama is slightly weak. It can be an excellent means of crowd control, but doesn't pack too much of a punch. We found it best to stick with the Dragon Sword when fighting Beastmen. Focus on one enemy at a time (this seems to lower the frantic nature of the battle), and as soon as they are wounded try and use an Obliteration Technique.
- Head towards the alleyway on your right, and kill the enemies that attack you.
- After they're finished off, head to your right. You'll find two walls close together. Wall jump up to the top area and encounter more Ninjas. The dead body here contains a Talisman of Rebirth. Get it.
- Head back down and go the opposite direction. You'll discover a chest containing Red Orbs.
- Now head back to the other area you have not yet explored. Go across the small bridge and find a corpse containing Spirit of the Devils. Use it.
- When you're ready head back over the small bridge and make a right. Bear right towards a huge fountain, and a new enemy, Water Demons.
- TIP: Use Izuna Drop nonstop on Water Demons. They are small, light enemies and shouldn't pose too much of a threat. Keep moving though, as they can be very fast.
- Get in the water and discover a chest containing the Gatling Spear Gun.
- Swim through the tunnel system until you see a new water enemy, mines. Kill them all with the Gatling Spear Gun.
- NOTE: The mines will not attack, but will explode on impact if you get too #close. Keep farming them for Yellow Orbs as much as possible.
- Find the Crystal Skull in the water in a corner.
- Achievement: Karma of the Warrior
- Swim underneath a bridge. Climb through into the boat through a window and save your game at the save point.
- Go up the stairs and enter the door. You'll encounter some more Demon Spawns. Kill them.
- From the door, head to your right and stock up at the Muramasa shop.
- From the shop head up the stairs you'll see a door that you can kick in. Enter the door and find a book entitled "Hinomaru's Notebook".
- Open up the chest for a bridge gate key .
- Go back out the door and turn left to get to the bridge. More Beastmen will attack. Eliminate them.
- Refill your arrows from the corpse on the left.
- Head down that hallway and encounter more Beastmen. Remember to keep moving and use Obliteration Techniques whenever possible on Beastmen.
- Keep going and open up the chest for more Red Orbs.
- Head to the right, back out into the open. You'll need to use the Fiend's Bane Bow to shoot the green crystals on either side of the bridge in order to lower a pole. #Use the pole to shimmy across to the other side. Drop down and open up the chest to receive a Life of the Gods.
- Get into the water and start swimming to the left through the lake area. You will need to kill a slew of mines using the Water Gatling Gun. There are quite a few mine enemies. Farm them all for Yellow Orbs.
- When the area is cleared, head swim towards the left rotating wheel, and jump up out on the water onto the small platform there.
- You'll need to jump up and grab onto one of the poles bisecting the waterwheel. Hold onto it and let it left you up to the top.
- When you get to the top, swing off to the wheel in front of you, and then wall-run to get onto the clock gear device coming out of the building on the left. Go into the building.
- There will be a rotating circular pole in front of you. Jump and grab onto it, and let it take you across the room.
- Drop down onto the platform and receive a Lives of a Thousand Gods.
- When ready, drop down to the bottom and leave the building through the door.
- When you leave the building you will encounter a group of Beastmen. When they're down, go up the stairs and save your game at the save point.
- Head straight through the entryway and into a battle with a group of Water Demons. #TIP: Because of their small size, they can be launched in the air for a quick kill.
- After all of them have been destroyed, a giant-sized Yellow Orb appears in the middle of the water ahead. Get it to receive huge payload of Yellow Orbs.
- Go through the entryway to the next area. A large crowd of Water Demons attacks. To avoid becoming overwhelmed, use Flying Swallow liberally.
- Find the chest in the room on the right containing Grains of Spiritual Life.
- Enter the room to the left and stock up at the Muramasa shop.
- Go back out, head straight down and encounter Demons Spawns and Water Demons. Destroy all of them and move on.
- Keep going forward, make a left and encounter more enemies.
- Once you're done with them, head back and go down the hallway on the left. Fight your way through the enemies.
- Enter the new room and find a chest with a Copper Key inside.
- Head back down the stairs, and on your right you'll find a cage. Use the COPPER KEY, enter the cage and interact with the corpse to get the Art of the Flame Phoenix Ninpo.
- Achievement: The Art of the Flame Phoenix.
- Head up the stairs and open the chest to receive some Red Orbs.
- Get onto one of the circle platforms. Jump up and use your sword to smash through it. You'll fall all the way down into some water. Swim around a bit and explore. #Save your game at the save point to the right.
- A group of Water Demons and Flying Demons will attack you. Eliminate the Flying Demons first, and then take out the Water Demons.
- Keep going forward and jump into the water ahead. Jump into the middle section of the water and swim down the hole. Keep going until you're back out into a new large open water cavern area.
- TIP: There are a large number Undead Fish in this area. If they attack you under water en-mass, use the Water Gatling Gun to quickly destroy them. If they attack you on land, break free of them and dart around using Flying Swallow to kill all of them. Luckily, the Undead Fish do very little damage. You can choose to ignore them entirely if you wish, though they can be a good source of Blue Orbs , which replenish your health.
- Dive under the water. Explore the underwater area, and find a chest on the right containing Red Orbs.
- NOTE: There are two chests here at the bottom on two different platforms at the bottom of the water (in the center). You hopefully already got the first one, but the second contains a "Devil Way Mushroom", depending on which one you got first.
- Keep swimming and you'll eventually find a staircase on the right side that leads you to a chest containing a huge Yellow Orb.
- Up on one of the ledges, you'll find a chest that contains a Skull Key.
- When you're ready, head to the center of the area and get onto the platform there. This will trigger a cutscene and boss battle.
Boss - Water Dragon
- TIP: The main strategy against the Water Dragon, is use the Water Run technique (tap A on the water), get in close right under the dragon, and attack it continuously. From a distance the Dragon will shoot spiky needles at you. But beware of its throw attack, in which it will grab you in its mouth and deal major damage. Keep running circles around it on the water, and hitting it with short X combos.
- TIP: You can also dive under the water, get up close to the Dragon's body and slash while under the water.
- NINPO: Use all Ninpos you have. The best way to use Ninpo against the Water Dragon is to get right under it, within pointblank range, and then unleash the Ninpo. This raises the amount of damage.
- The Dragon will also unleash a water shock wave attack. Try not to be near when it does. Additionally, the Dragon may spawn Undead Fish to attack you. If you can, ignore them entirely and focus on attacking the Dragon.
- When the Dragon takes enough damage, it will slump over and remain vulnerable. Move in close and finish him off with an Obliteration Technique (see video).
- Achievement: Finished Chapter 5
- Blip.tv: Ninja Gaiden II Walkthrough - Chapter 5 - Boss Fight (Time: 2:59)
Chapter 6 - The Lycanthropes' Castle
- Watch the cutscene, in which the walls and pillars crumble in the water cavern area. When the cutscene ends, all of the Undead Fish are (thankfully) gone, leaving you free to explore the area are your leisure.
- Near where you fought the Water Dragon, you'll see a very small square rock between two pillars. Use this to wall-jump between them all the way up to the top of the pillars.
- On top you'll find a Muramasa shop. Use it to restock yourself.
- There is a Crystal Skull on the opposite side of the shop, on an isolated pillar area. In order to get it, go up on the ledge above it, and walk down the steps.
- Continue around the ledge after you get the skull, and drop down into an alcove and get the crate, containing a Talisman of Rebirth inside.
- Jump from the platforms on the structure over to a long cliff, then turn right and jump over more platoforms.
- Jump over onto the cliff area.
- The Undead Fish are, in fact, not actually dead. They will were only hiding apparently. They will try to kill you periodically. Shake them off when they attack, and use the Dragon Sword to finish them off.
- There is a chest at the end of the walkway to the right with an Herb of Spiritual Life.
- Head back the other way on the cliff's edge, and wall-run over the gap onto the ledge ahead. You will be attacked by Water Demons. Destroy them.
- Find a chest to the left containing Red Orbs.
- Head back out onto the pillars from the cliff area. Continue around the circular pillar and jump to the next platform, making sure you get the Devil Way Mushroom one the left.
- Continue straight ahead into the structure and save your game at the save point.
- Head into the caves, where Water Demons are waiting for you. Kill them.
- Continue down the path into the caves. Find a Jewel of the Demon Seal on the dead body straight ahead. Use it to raise the level of one of your Ninpos.
- When you're ready, use the Skull Key on the gate with skulls on it.
- TIP: When you head inside, you will be greeted by a new enemy, the Bone Scorpion. The Bone Scorpion is a small enemy, and so can be launched into the air. Zip around them using Flying Swallow, and use the (X Y) combo to slice them up into the air. You might also consider using the Kusari-gama for its speed.
- When the Bone Scorpions are all eliminated, a cutscene will occur, and a mid-boss battle will begin.
Sub-Boss - Undead Monster
- TIP: The main strategy for the Undead Monster, is to stay down around his legs or behind him at all times, and use the Flying Swallow move continuously on his legs. The Flying Swallow does relatively light damage to the Undead Monster, but when performed three times back-and-forth in one jump (Y while jumping forward, + L right and left) it can add up to a decent amount of damage. Additionally, when you're slashing the Undead Monster while under his legs, he will have very little opportunity to retaliate.
- TIP: When the boss becomes stunned he will sit down and slump over. Move in close and use the Blade of Susano'o technique (X Y X X X X) to slice upwards and hit the glowing red orb in his chest with a flurry of slashes for major damage.
- Use every Ninpo you have. If you aim your Ninpo correctly, you'll damage him greatly.
- Continue this process and he should fall soon enough.
- Blip.tv: Ninja Gaiden II Walkthrough - Chapter 6 - Sub-Boss Fight (Time: 2:50)
- When you regain control of Ryu wall-run up the only wall you can, and continue up the spiraling path up the cave. Water Demons will attack you. Defeat them.
- Enter the smaller door deeper in the caves. Bone Scorpions will attack you. Defeat them, remembering to move quickly around so they can't jump and attack you.
- Find a chest in the next room containing Blue Orbs . After getting the Blue Orbs , eliminate the attacking Water Demons.
- Continue down the path and encounter more Bone Scorpions. Remember to launch them into the air whenever possible, as this make them quickly crumble.
- When you come to a cliff, do not fall. It will set you way back to where you fought the skeleton sub-boss and you'll have to climb all the way back up.
- In the next room right more Bone Scorpions. You can use the Shurikens, Fiend's Bane Bow or other ranged attack to kill the Bone Scorpions from a distance across the gap when you come to it.
- Continue up the path, where another crowd of Bone Scorpions will attack you. Eliminate them.
- You will eventually come to a large pit, and if you fall you will land back to the mini-boss area again.
- Jump to the furthest wall straight ahead, and then use the FLYING BIRD technique to jump all the up until you exit the dungeon.
- Save your game at the nearby save point, then go up the stairs and find a Muramasa shop. Restock yourself.
- Go up the ladder on the tower in the middle of the area, and find a chest with a Grains of Spiritual Life inside.
- Go back down the stairs, and trigger a cutscene.
- You will need to fight off a crowd of Beastmen. Remember to use Flying Swallow, Ultimate TechniqueS (very helpful in crowds of Beastmen) and Obliteration Techniques.
- Go inside the newly opened door right next to the save point. More Beastmen will attack you. Destroy them.
- Once they're down, continue down the steps and you'll come to a downward spiral staircase. Take it down.
- Eventually you will come to a wide open room, where a crowd of Beastmen will attack. Kill them, and then head right up the stairs.
- You'll be met by a group of Water Demons. Destroy them.
- Continue up the steps and fight more Water Demons next to the cannons as you head along the path.
- At this point you will spot a large mansion/castle to the left. Explore the area.
- To the right of the building there is a small wooden door, which you can't open. Don't go straight into the building yet, go to the left of the door and find a chest with Red Orbs first.
- Head to the right of the door, and save your game at the save point.
- NOTE: You actually cannot enter through the front door of the building. Go up the ladder next to the save point.
- Continue along the path, finding ARROWS on the corpse.
- Turn left and use the FLYING BIRD technique to jump up between the two close walls. When you get to the top, Flying Demons will be waiting for you. Destroy them. Remember to use the Fiend's Bane Bow, and jump and hit B twice to kill each flying demon. You can get off two arrow shots in one jump.
- Continue off to the right of the where the Flying Demons were.
- Bear left along the path, and encounter two Beastmen. Kill them. Remember that when in small numbers, the Lunar Staff can be a formidable weapon against larger enemies such as the Beastmen.
- Continue upwards along the path, bear left and a custcene occurs.
- After the cutscene ends, continue around the curved path. You'll need to now grab onto one of the copper poles hanging across the expanse, and flip forwards from pole to pole, and then finally through the large stain glass window.
- When you flip through the stain glass window, you'll be in a huge church room with polished floors, and many Water Demons will attack you. Destroy them quickly before they can get the upper hand.
- Once they're down, get the chest in the center of the room, containing the Bronze Key .
- Go outside, and find a dead body with Inukoma's Notebook.
- Continue across the courtyard, and use the the Bronze Key on the door straight ahead.
- Drop down through the hole in front of you.
- You'll be in a kitchen area with a ton of Beastmen. Kill them, and then move to the next room.
- Smash some barrels in the corner, and find a Life of the Gods in a crate. Use it.
- Continue through the door, and save your game at the save point to the right.
- When you're ready, dead into the next big room area, where there are many Beastmen.
- TIP: This section can be fairly difficult, given the sheer number of Beastmen you'll go up against. When in doubt, Flying Swallow around, getting in three slashes per combo. Focus on one Beastman at a time if possible, wound him, and then unleash an Obliteration Technique. When even one of them is down, this gives you the opportunity to Reverse Wind out of the fray for a moment, draw some essence (which makes you charge faster), and hit the crowd with an Ultimate Technique. You cannot launch Beastmen into the air, so stick to ground combos.
- Once they're dead, head up the main large staircase in the room, and go to the left of the landing. Find a crate at the end of walkway with an Herb of Spiritual Life.
- To the right, the other way from the landing, there is a door that is locked for now.
- Head back down the main staircase, and through the side-door to the right. The Beastmen continue. For your information, be advised there are two more rooms full of Beastmen.
- Enter the room and encounter a crowd of Beastmen. You have a couple options at this point: You can choose to fight it out with the Beastmen in this room, using the large dining table in the middle of the room to launch attacks off of. Or, you can retreat back into the main room you just came from, where you will have much more room to put together some sensible combos. Whichever you choose, take them out.
- Once they're dead, go to the right and through the next door. Yet another crowd of Beastmen will attack you. Keep moving, whether you're darting around slashing multiple Beastmen, or staying focused on one enemy at a time.
- When they're down, go through the door at the end of the room.
- Enter the circular room with armor on the walls, and encounter a crowd of Water Demons. Kill them all and get the key up against a wall.
- Go back to the main room and up the stairs to the right (to the door that was previously locked). Open up the locked door with the key.
- Head through, go up the stairs and save your game at the save point. Destroy all of the Ninjas along the way.
- Enter the room at the top of the staircase and unleash a fury of attacks among the many ninjas in this room. Remember to launch small enemies into the air.
- When you're ready, enter a fireplace-type structure and use the Flying Bird technique to jump to the top.
- When you arrive at the top, you'll face a crowd of Water Demons. Defeat Them.
- Once they've been terminated, enter the door on your right. Face off against more Ninjas and cut them down to pieces.
- To your left, go all the way down to yet another fireplace-like structure and use the Flying Bird technique to jump to the top.
- Save your game at the save point on your immediate left.
- If you climb down the ladder to the lower level in front of the save point, you will encounter a crowd of Beastmen. To avoid this (for now), use the series of poles stretched across the gap to swing over to the next area.
- Go forward and on the left will be another series of poles. On the next platform, stock up at the Muramasa shop and open the chest to receive Red Orbs. However, one of the chestS may contain Undead Fish.
- Head back the way you came. You cannot use the poles from here to swing back across the main area, so you will have to drop down and fight the crowd of Beastmen. Do so and eliminate them, but at least now you should be stocked up on supplies.
- Once you're back at the main entrance to building, attempt the open the door. It will locked. When you attempt to head back down the steps from the door, this will trigger a battle with yet more Beastmen. Destroy them all to gain a "Golden Key". #Head back up the steps to unlock the huge door.
- After the cutscene ends, prepare to battle more Beastmen.
- TIP: If you're in trouble, and after defeating at least one fiend, hold down the Y button to suck up all the essence around so you can unleash an Ultimate Technique, and effectively defeat each wolf fiend one by one.
- When they're down, examine the chair at the top of the stairs by pressing the RB button and a trapdoor opens up in the floor. Drop all the way down to another underground pathway.
- You will be engaged by Water Demons. Use the Izuna Drop technique (X Y X X X Y).
- There will be a save point on the right side as you walk down the passageway. Save your game.
- Enter the door at the end of the pathway. More Water Demons will charge at you. Destroy them.
- Now get out of the water and head up the stairs on the left. There will be a chest on the left with Red Orbs.
- Examine the big door, which will tell you it is firmly shut. You will have to find another way inside.
- Head back down the stairs where you'll find another staircase. Follow it down and find a corpse with more arrows.
- Keep going and head down yet more stairs and you'll be attacked by a group of Water Demons.
- When they're down, keep going straight and examine the corpse for more arrows if you need them.
- Use the Fiend's Bane Bow to take care of the surrounding Flying Demons. Jump, then use the bow to take care of them all.
- When the Flying Demons have been eliminated, keep going forward and enter the next room.
- When the finally enter the door at the end of the hallway it will trigger a cutscene and boss battle against Volf, the Wolf King.
Boss - Volf
- TIP: The main strategy we used against Volf is as follows: Immediately close the distance between you and Volf, Reverse Wind in circles around him, and use short ground combos to wear down his health. When you've finished your combo, start using Reverse Wind again in circles, blocking any of Volf's combos that connect.
- Volf has four hands and the Eclipse Scythe (which you will acquire after the battle) that can deal a lot of damage to you. He has multiple melee combos, so make sure you block liberally whenever he starts a combo, and then Reverse Wind to dodge out of the way.
- TIP: As with any boss battle, use any and all Ninpo you have. This is very effective against him.
- Keep using Flying Swallow (Y while jumping forard), which is also a solid way to inflict quick damage.
- Keep moving around as much as you can, and block constantly. Eventually Volf will fall, leaving you with the Eclipse Scythe. However, the battle is not over; you still must defeat a large group of Beastmen to continue.
- See the full Eclipse Scythe combo list below.
- Now you'll have to deal with the crowd of Beastmen. Defeat them all.
- NOTE: The "Eclipse Scythe" is not necessarily the best weapon to use against these Beastmen, since it's a bit slow and you haven't had time to get properly acquainted with the combos. If you're having trouble, switch back to the Dragon Sword.
- TIP: As previously stated, make good use of charging up your dragon sword, absorbing essence around you holding the Y button to unleash an Ultimate Technique among the Beastmen. This can be a very useful tactic. Remember though, doing this can be interrupted. The Beastmen will often throw the severed body parts of their fallen brethren, so choose your moments to pause wisely.
- Once you defeat approximately six Beastmen, the battle will finally be over and a cutscene is triggered.
- Achievement: Vanquished Volf
- Achievement: Finished Chapter 6

Chapter 7 - The Flying Fortress Daedalus
- Watch the cutscene. When you regain control of Ryu again, you'll be on a flying fortress, as the chapter is aptly named.
- Quickly get behind something as gun turrets are shooting at you from up on the roof of the building ahead.
- When you're safely behind the turrets, make use of the holes you can shoot through. Use the Fiend's Bane Bow to get rid of the turrets on top of the building straight ahead, and also to the left and right of you. Do so as quickly as possible, as the turrets will eventually shatter, leaving you out in the open with no cover.
- Find a container of arrows on the right side.
- Watch the cutscene. Now an entrance to the fortress opens up and a new enemy is revealed, the Executor.
- TIP: The Executor is a large enemy, and so cannot be launched into the air. Use Flying Swallow (Y while jumping forward) to inflict quick damage, use ground combos, and focus on one at a time. Additionally, the Eclipse Scythe weapon is ideal for large, slow enemies. Take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with its combos, and use it to your advantage. In particular, the Blood Rain technique (Y while jumping) inflicts three devastating slashes from above, and is difficult to avoid. Beware of the Executor's death explosion, as it damages Ryu. When the Executors are down, head inside.
- Restock yourself at the Muramasa shop. Now enter a new area.
- Turn left and head around the corner. You will be attacked by more Executors. Destroy them.
- Continue down the hall to the very end and find a chest of Red Orbs.
- Go back and take the other way down the hall, and save your game at the save point.
- Go into the new area where Ninjas will attack you. Eliminate them.
- In the corner find a chest with an Herb of Spiritual Life. Open the second chest in the area to obtain a Devil Way Mushroom.
- Open the next door and go inside. Destroy all the ninjas you find here. Keep going down the hall and follow the path all the way around. At the end of the path find a chest with a Life of the Gods.
- NOTE: At this point we found 9 Life of the Gods items, which increased our maximum health.
- Now head back and enter the door right in the middle. More Executors attack you. Destroy them, taking care to move away when they're exploding.
- When the Executors are down, press the switch in the far right corner to activate an elevator. An entryway will open and you'll have fight a Mecha Soldiers and Gun Ninjas. In a situation like this, constant movement is key.
- TIP: The Mecha Soldier is, like the Executor, a large enemy and cannot be launched into the air. These are some of the biggest, toughest non-boss enemies you'll face in the game. Ninpo works rather effectively against them, and may be your only recourse when you face more than one of them. However, your most powerful weapon, the Eclipse Scythe, is an effective tool of destruction for the job, provided you know how to wield it. If using the Dragon Sword, use Flying Swallow constantly, and get in quick combos before dodging away and repeating the process.
- From the elevator, go to the door on the other end, furthest away and walk in. Kill all the ninjas here.
- Save your game at the save point.
- On the left side of the control find a Crystal Skull.
- When you're ready interact with the control deck. Attack and destroy the controls. Now the fortress will be on autopilot.
- Head back out and face off against more Executors. Defeat all of them.
- Now head to the other door on the other end and open it. Defeat the Ninjas here and go left to find a chest with a Life of the Gods.
- Head down from here and enter the only door you'll find. More Gun Ninjas will attack you, so destroy them.
- Enter a door on the right, then enter another door on the right and defeat the ninjas.
- At the end of the room find another door. Enter it and kill all of the easy Gun Ninjas. There will be a chest on the left next to the control board with Red Orbs. #Destroy all of the controls to bring down the fortress on the left and right side of the room.
- Find the chest next to the door to replenish your ARROWS.
- Last but not least, use your Fiend's Bane Bow to destroy the blue reactors in the middle of the area to overload the flying fortress.
- Head all the way back through the hall with Light Artillery Ninjas at the end. Defeat them, closing the distance as soon as possible.
- When you head through the door, the lasers you saw before are gone. Continue on through the area. Enter the door, and enter another door on the left with a Muramasa shop and a save point.
- Leave this room, make a left and go down another hallway to fight some more Gun Ninjas.
- Keep going forward and take out the Light Artillery Ninjas with a few "Flying Swallow" techniques.
- Continue on and enter the door on the left, the only door you can enter. In the corner on the left find a dead body with a scroll entitled "Yogenta's Notepook".
- Head back and activate the elevator which takes you to an upper level. Soon you'll fight more Gun Ninjas. Eliminate them.
- Destroy all the control boards here to further damage the ship. On the left side of the entrance find a ladder. Climb it to reach another room with computers.
- Find the chest in the room with an Herb of Spiritual Life, and another chest with a Lives of a Thousand Gods.
- Next to the chest go through the door, which leads you to a few more Gun Ninjas. Destroy them.
- When they're down, activate the switch at the end on the left side.
- On your immediate right, save your game at the save point.
- Enter the door down from the save point, and find a chest with a scroll that teaches the Art of the Piercing Void Ninpo.
- Now go back to the control board and activate a switch that reveals another passageway that leads you down. Climb the ladder down and open up a chest containing Yellow Orbs. Examine the dead bodies here to get more incendiary shurikens and a new weapon, the TONFA.
- See the full Tonfa combo list below.
- Enter the door next to the chest and battle more Light Artillery Ninjas. Close the distance on them with Flying Swallow, and make quick work of them at close range.
- Continue down the hall. In a corner amongst some rubble find another Crystal Skull.
- Keep heading forward and enter a door on the left. Mecha Soldiers will attack. Destroy them.
- Active the elevator and take it down. Mecha Soldiers will attack. Take them out.
- Enter the door on the left but be careful as you enter. Gun Ninjas will be waiting for you. Slightly peak out the door and use the Fiend's Bane Bow eliminate all of them.
- Go down the ladder and walk out across the wing. Enter the door on the other end.
- Save your game at the save point.
- Head through the door and. On your left will be a corpse with a Devil Way Mushroom. As you continue on, destroy every Gun Ninja that gets in your way. Enter the door.
- Light Artillery Ninjas and Gun Ninjas Will attack. Destroy them, focusing first on the Light Artillery Ninjas.
- Enter the door on the right and continue down the hall. Watch the cutscene.
- When you're ready, enter the only door you can and open a chest with an HERB OF SPIRITUAL HEALTH. Defeat the Gun Ninjas in the room.
- Go into another door, destroying Ninjas as you go. Open the next door and another cutscene occurs.
- After the cutscene continue down the hall and open the door. The Ninjas in the room. Make sure to destroy all of the control boards.
- Enter the door on your right, and encounter another group of Gun Ninjas. Continue onward and open a chest on the left side with an HERB OF SPIRITUAL HEALTH.
- Open the door and restock at the Muramasa shop.
- Enter the door, but be cautious as gun turrets will start shooting at you. Do what you did before and slightly look out the door and destroy them with the Fiend's Bane Bow.
- when they're down, go down the ladder and across the wing.
- Save your game at the save point. Open up the door trigger a cutscene and boss battle.
Boss: Genshin (Second Encounter)
- This time Genshin will have a few Ninjas helping. They throw incendiary shurikens, so beware. Once you kill all of them, they will respawn, so give them as little attention as possible initially. They will disappear for good after a few spawns.
- TIP: To deal with Genshin's minions, use the Izuna Drop technique (X Y X X X Y), as you would any light Ninja enemy. Genshin will take damage is you're lucky and he's close enough.
- Use ninpos if you're in trouble (especially with the surrounding Ninjas) and use your health sparingly as you'll need it for something that comes up right after this boss (you'll see).
- TIP: Genshin is very quick just like the last encounter. When you have Genshin one-on-one, constantly Reverse Wind around him in circles while he attempts combos, and when he takes a breath move in for a short ground combo. Don't bother with air-combos, as they will fail and you'll take damage.
- Once he takes enough damage, he'll be beaten, but not dead.
- Watch the cutscene. Now that you're no longer on the fortress, and when you thought everything was okay, you realize you're in for another: the Flaming Armadillo.
- Blip.tv: Ninja Gaiden II Walkthrough - Chapter 7 - Boss Fight #1 (Time: 3:22)
Boss - Flaming Armadillo
- TIP: Your main move in the fight is Reverse Wind. You'll need to use when he shoots fire out of his mouth, when he rolls up into a ball and charges you, when he launches fire balls at your from his back, and any other time you feel threatened. This fight can be an exercise in left-thumb stamina, to be honest. The good news is that Reverse Wind is almost 100% effective in saving you from his attacks, and none of them could be categorized as "unblockable."
- TIP: To damage the Flaming Armadillo, you have two options, the Dragon Sword and the Fiend's Bane Bow. To use the Dragon Sword you'll need to always stay on his sides, and use two combos on his head solely: Flying Swallow with a triple back-and-forth hit, and (the better of the two) Blade of Susano'o (X Y X X X X). The Blade of Susano'o can really take him down quick if properly executed. To use the Fiend's Bane Bow, wait for a moment where he is all the way on the other side of the map from you, and take the opportunity to fully charge up the BOW. When his head is in view, hit him directly in the head.
- If you get too close to his mouth, he'll grab you and cause major damage.
- NOTE: Save your Ninpo as it has no affect on this boss.
- NOTE: If you take half of his health away, he'll really get angry and turn red. Be wary of this, as he'll be drastically quicker. Keep slicing away at his head and he'll soon be finished off.
- OBLITERATION: If you find that when he has reached almost zero health he becomes stunned and slumps over, move in close and hold Y for a nice finishing move.
- IMPORTANT: When all of his health has been drained, block, as he will self-destruct, killing you in the process if you are unguarded. When he's down watch the cutscene.
- User Arctic Inferno added this suggestion:
- The Chapter 7 Boss Flaming Armadillo can be beaten by the incendiary shurikens alone, and the length of the fight will be measured in seconds, not minutes. Throw the incendiary shurikens at it's head. If you jump while throwing, auto aim seems to work better, but may throw them while on the ground, too. It may be the easiest boss in the game.
- Achievement: Finished Chapter 7
- Blip.tv: Ninja Gaiden II Walkthrough - Chapter 7 - Boss Fight #2 (Time: 4:13)
Chapter 8 - Submit, or Die!
- Watch the cutscene. When it ends, proceed down the path and restock at the Muramasa shop and find a chest with ARROWS (you'll need them ahead).
- When you go around the corner, Light Artillery Ninjas will attack from behind a barricade in the distance.
- TIP: This section can be very overwhelming, as the Artillery Ninjas are persistent. To beat them, use the existing barricades to you advantage, Reverse Wind out of the way when you need to, and use the Fiend's Bane Bow fully charged to take out the Ninjas. Do not attempt to run in and attack them at close quarters, as you will be hit multiple times with rockets.
- When the first of them are down, use the same technique on the next batch of Artillery Ninjas in the distance.
- When ready, head to the left around the corner and encounter the next round of Artillery Ninjas. Defeat them the same way.
- Artillery Ninjas may appear behind you, in which case quickly double back and take out at close quarters.
- TIP: Target any explosive barrels near the Artillery Ninjas when you're sniping them. You can take out a couple of them at a time this way.
- When you enter the next larger open area, Mecha Soldiers will engage you. Immediately use any Ninpo you have on them. Otherwise use the Flying Swallow with the Dragon Sword, or the Eclipse Scythe. You have to keep moving to avoid their rather strong attacks. Also, keep in mind that when they die and explode, you can be damaged by the explosion, so stay back when they start to falter.
- When they're down, retreat back to the opening of the wide open area, behind the barricade and tank, and snipe the Artillery Ninjas in the distance with a Fiend's Bane Bow.
- Walk through the wide open area, and turn right down the next road. You'll have to use the barricade right in front of you for cover to take out the Artillery Ninjas in the distance from safety.
- When ready, turn right down the alley, and save at the save point on the right.
- After you've saved, continue down the tunnel. When you come an opening, you will ambushed by Ninja Dogs. Use Flying Swallow nonstop on them.
- Find a chest with an Herb of Spiritual Life to the left around the corner.
- Go through a small door on the left, and encounter a group of Ninjas on the ground. What makes this encounter challenging is there are Artillery Ninjas in the distance.
- 'TIP: Tto the right and left of the entrance to this area, you can use the FLYING BIRD technique to jump up between to walls, and get up onto the second level. This will give you quick access to the Artillery Ninjas. Close in on them fast and wipe them out. This section will be made much more manageable once they're gone.
- On the left at ground level, there is a room with a Muramasa shop. After stocking up, head back into the main area and proceed forward through a small door.
- Turn left and trigger a short cutscene. There are mines hidden in the ground in the snow ahead.
- TIP: In order to pass over the snow and not explode the mines, you'll need to walk slowly over the faint footprints in the snow (where there are obviously no mines). When you get onto solid ground again, to the right you'll encounter Artillery Ninjas in the distance. Additionally, there is more snow ahead (with footprints) and mines underneath. So, you'll need to hang back and take out the rocket launcher ninjas from a distance before proceeding. Otherwise death is imminent. Use Incendiary Shurikens if you have them, and the Fiend's Bane Bow until they're all down.
- Go forward across the snow, and use the footprints. Find a Devil Way Mushroom in a crate.
- Do not go around the next corner to the right yet, as there are Heavy Artillery Ninjas shooting at you in the distance. Peek your head out slightly, and snipe them with the Fiend's Bane Bow.
- TIP: The Crystal Skull to the left is very difficult to obtain, because it is in an area surrounded by mines. In order to get it, wall-run on the wall to the right of the skull, heading left toward the skull. You should land right by the skull, possibly setting off a mine but that may be inevitable. Quickly press RB, and then jump back across the snow to safety.
- When ready head through the big gate, and save at the save point.
- Go through a door next to the save point, and enter a room with polished floors. Melee Ninjas will attack you. Defeat with Flying Swallow, Izuna Drop, and other quick-moving attacks. Don't stay in one place for too long, because they shoot Incendiary Shurikens at you.
- When they'll all finished off, go through a small door to the right of the entrance to the building. It will take you up a spiraling staircase. You'll have to wall-run over a couple gaps, until you're up at the top.
- Jump and grab onto the circular pole straight ahead, move to the right and drop down onto the new area. There is a door you can open straight ahead.
- NOTE: On the other left side of the landing, where you can drop down from the pole, there is a corpse with a Life of the Gods.
- Go up out the door up the steps, to the left of the locked door. Through the door find a corpse with the Bell Key you'll need to open the door.
- Open the door and go down the steps. Find a Crystal Skull on the right as you head down the steps.
- Go through the door and head onward. Open the tomb on the right, and jump down the hole.
- Follow the path through the shattered bricks. There are bats around, waste them with shurikens.
- You will eventually come out to a wide open hallway. Follow it. You can shatter the benches in the room, but there's no real reason to.
- Near the end of the hallway find a chest on the right when Red Orbs. After you obtain them, Melee Ninjas will attack in a crowd. Move quickly, and don't stop slashing. Bear in mind they have incendiary shurikens.
- When they're down, a short cutscene will occur, showing you a door that has apparently been opened. If you go past the subway car, there is a staircase on the right hand side. follow the stairs up, to a locked door (you need the keycard).
- Go back to the open the door the bus and enter. Search the bus. There is a Crystal Skull on the right as you enter.
- You'll find the keycard you need on a dead body in the bedroom in the subway car. At the other end of the subway in a room, find a crate with a Grains of Spiritual Life.
- Right when you open the door, save your game at the save point straight ahead.
- You'll need to go up the stairs and through the door ahead to trigger the cutscene and boss fight.
Sub-Boss: Giant Brute Fiend
- TIP: Stay under the Brute's legs, and continually slash him with Dragon Sword combos. Do not attempt to use the Flying Swallow technique on him, as he is impervious to it. The best strategy we found was to ignore everything besides the Giant Brute Fiend. Stay under his legs and spam-attack him with the Dragon Sword.
- TIP: Ninpo is extremely effective against the Brute Fiend. Use if if you have it.
- Beware of the Mecha Soldiers, the Brute Fiend's breath attack and his grab/throw attack. If the Mecha Soldiers close in and start attacking you, Flying Swallow or Reverse Wind away from them to safety, then move back in to continue spamming his legs. He should fall soon enough.
- Be advised that after Brute Fiend goes down, you'll still need to clean up any remaining Mecha Soldiers. Use the Flying Swallow to finish them off.
- Blip.tv: Ninja Gaiden II Walkthrough - Chapter 8 - Sub-Boss Fight (Time: 2:18)
- Go into the building, and drop down through the ground.
- NOTE: You may want to retreat back through the door that leads you to the boss fight, and save at the save point in case you die in the next area.
- Find a book on the ground, "The Rule of the King of Darkness."
- Continue on the path, and encounter a group of Melee Ninjas. Ninjas of this size should not be too much of a problem for you at this point.
- On the right hand side, find a corpse with Incendiary ShurikenS.
- On the right further along there is another cell containing a corpse with a Life of the Gods.
- Continue down the tunnel. Kick open the cell on the right, and use an incendiary shuriken to blow open the cracked, glowing wall.
- Go through the new hole in the wall. You'll be at a cliff, with water down below, and a landing across the water. Jump down across the water, and fight a crowd of Water Demons. You should be able to make quick work of them.
- Once on the landing, go to the left (even while you're fighting the scorpions) and find a chest with a Lives of a Thousand Gods. Use it.
- Once the Water Demons are down, head across the water down the tunnel.
- BEWARE: There are Undead Fish in this area.
- Continue down the tunnel, and you'll come to a staircase to the left. Follow it up and around.
- You'll come to a ladder. Use the FLYING BIRD technique to jump up all the way to the top. Blow open the glowing wall ahead.
- Go down into the new big room
