Nicolas Cage is an American actor. The nephew of acclaimed director Francis Ford Coppola, he changed his name to Cage to avoid the appearance that his success was due to family favoritism. His debut film was Cameron Crowe's cult favorite, Fast Times at Ridgemont High in 1982. 1995's Leaving Las Vegas earned Cage an Academy Award; he was also nominated for his portrayal of the twins Donald and Charlie Kaufman (the former of which being fictional) in 2002's Adaptation.

Commercial Success
Beyond the Oscar-worthy performances, Cage has reached a much wider audience through action and adventure films such as the Jerry Bruckheimer productions The Rock and Con Air, starring opposite John Travolta in Face Off, and the National Treasure movies. In 2006, he found success playing real-life police officer John McLoughlin in Oliver Stone's World Trade Center.
