NFL Wild Card Weekend
Wild Card Weekend is the first round of the NFL Playoffs. It features four games, with two on Saturday televised by NBC Sports, and two on Sunday televised by CBS and FOX. The winners advance to play in the NFL Divisional Weekend.

- The top 2 AFC teams, New England and Indianapolis, earned bye weeks
- The top 2 NFC teams, Dallas and Green Bay, earned bye weeks
- From 1970-1977, there were only 8 teams in the playoffs; this consisted of 3 division winners and 1 extra, or "wild card", team from each conference
- In 1978, the NFL added an extra team in each conference and held a "Wild Card Game" - the winner would advance to the Division Round of the playoffs
- In 1990, another wild card team was added to each conference, leading to the formation on two days of games in the first round
- In 2002, following realignment, the league designated the two wild card teams in each conference to play two division winners
