The Civil Rights Movement

Although the civil rights movement of the '60s made great changes in the United States, Mexican Americans and other Hispanic citizens did not see much difference in their situation. While African Americans were represented by organizations such as the NAACP, Hispanics did not have a comparable group. These needs led to the eventual creation of the NCLR.²
