Format
There are three NCAA Football divisions: Division I, Division II and Division III. College teams are assigned to division based on a number of factors, including student population. Each division is split into conferences, roughly by region. At the end of the season, most conferences conduct conference championship games. All three divisions then hold division championships during college bowl game season. The final bowl game, the Bowl Championship Series Championship Game, determines the NCAA Division I football champion.
Division I
The largest universities, colleges, and military academies in America comprise NCAA's Division I. Division I is the most famous of the NCAA football divisions, and the vast majority of professional football players are drafted from its ranks.
