Early Years

Prior to playing in the NHL, Johnson attended and played for Bowling Green State University. He then signed as an undrafted free agent with the Toronto Maple Leafs on March 16, 1997. He made his NHL debut with the Leafs that same year, playing 13 NHL games. After nearly four seasons with the Leafs, he was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Feb 9, 2000. Just over a year later, Johnson was traded again, to the Phoenix Coyotes on March 5, 2001.

Recent Career

Johnson continued to play in Phoenix through 2006, leaving the team during the 2004-05 NHL Lockout to play in Sweden. On July 12, 2006, Johnson was traded to the Montreal Canadiens. He entered the free agency after the 2006-07 regular season and signed with the St. Louis Blues on October 4, 2007.
