Maura West is an American actress born April 27, 1927 in Springfield, Massachusetts. She is formely known by the name Maura Jo Snyder which she changed when she was seventeen years old. She took her mothers maiden name West, which she is now known by. In the 1990s, West attended Boston University's School of Fine Arts.

Maura West is known for her role in the soap opera As The World Turns. She portrays the role of Carly Snyder. She began the role in 1995 and is still as of 2008 an active cast member. In her career, she has been nominated for both the Soap Opera Digest and Daytime Emmy Awards multiple times. In 2007, she won the Daytime Emmy for her role in As The World Turns.

In 2000, Maura West was married to Scott DeFreitas who is also a cast member of As The World Turns. West currently has four children, three with her current husband and one with her ex-husband Jonathan Knight.
