Matthew Lombardi

Although he was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in 2000, Matthew Lombardi continued to play junior hockey for two years before then re-entering the draft in 2002. He joined the National Hockey League as a member of the Calgary Flames and played with them during the 2003-2004 season, when they went to the final round in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. During a 2004 playoff game against the Detroit Red Wings, Lombardi received an elbow to the head from Derian Hatcher, which rendered him unable to play for several months.

In 2007, Lombardi won the Gold Medal with Team Canada in the 2007 World Ice Hockey Championships. During the tournament, he scored six goals and six assists for a combined twelve points, which made him the leader in points for Team Canada.
