Mass Effect PC Security Measures
The epic role-playing game Mass Effect uses a security device known as SecuROM, which works to disable pirated copies from being played. Since news of BioWare's plans to include SecuROM in the PC version of Mass Effect, the fanbase expressed dismay. Because SecuROM requires an internet connection in order to validate the legitimacy of the copy, this poses the risk of the game failing due to unavailable internet connection. The no CD key would ostensibly act as a workaround for the SecuROM security check, although that's not entirely true. To be more accurate, SecuROM will not require the gamer to load the CD at all, since it merely performs and online check to verify the CD key and system hardware. In this sense, there will not be a no CD crack for Mass Effect, but rather a no SecuROM crack of some sort. For more information, see our page on Mass Effect SecuROM Removal.
