History
The Louisiana Tech football program was started in 1901, but did not see success until the 1940s. The team won the Louisiana Intercollegiate Conference Championship in 1941, 1945 and 1947. After moving to the Gulf States Conference, the Bulldogs brought home the conference title 10 times between 1949 and 1971. Another conference move placed the Bulldogs in the Southland Conference. They won that conference championship eight times within 14 years including back-to-back national championships in 1972 and 1973. In 2001, the Bulldogs joined the Western Athletic Conference, winning the conference title that same year.2
