History
Lollapalooza was started in 1991 by Perry Farrell as a farewell tour for Jane's Addiction. From 1991 to 1997 Lollapalooza was a traveling music festival attracting some of the biggest names in music.
In 1998, Lollapalooza was canceled due to a lack of public interest and because organizers could not find an act willing to headline.2
Farrell attempted to revive Lollapalooza in 2003 with a Jane's Addiction reunion. It was a marginal success and plans for a 2004 tour were scrapped.
In 2005, Farrell teamed up with Capital Sports & Entertainment and Charles Attal Presents to resurrect Lollapalooza as a two-day festival held in Chicago's Grant Park.
In 2006, it was announced Chicago would be hosting Lollapalooza until 2011.1
