A giant flag, measuring 30 feet by 50 feet, might be put up in the junction between I-75 and I-4 in Hillsborough County, Florida. The NAACP is opposed to the idea. They are afraid that the flag would send the wrong message about the county's beliefs and would scare some people away.

About the Flag

The flag will be on top of a 139 foot pole and will also be lighted so it will be visible at night. The funding for the flag started in 2004 and should be completed in 2009. The sponsoring group, Sons of Confederate Veterans, needs $30,000 more to have all the funds necessary.
