Klitschko Ibragimov Round-by-Round Coverage

MAIN EVENT

  • Winner by unanimous decision, Wladimir Klitschko
  • CURRENT HBO SCORECARD: Klitschko leads 118-110 through 12 rounds
  • Round 12: Final round and the same thing as the entire fight, defensive fighting... still a lot of jabbing, not a lot of great back-and-forth
  • Round 11: Still more of the same we've seen all fight long... action finally picked off at the end of the round as both fighters traded upper cuts... Klitschko very clinical and surgical, just not enthrawling
  • Round 10: Ibragimov needs to take more chances... both fighters tumble to the ground - no kncokdown scored... now Ibragimov is trying to wrestle Klitschko and sneak punches in... another round filled mostly with defensive fighting... Klitschko winning on points
  • Round 9: Klitschko knocks Ibragimov into the ropes - should have been counted as a knock down, but the ref didn't think so...the rest of the round was more of what we've seen the entire fight so far... Klitschko wins that round easily
  • Round 8: Klitschko landed a huge right hand, and Ibragimov slips and falls to the ground... now a flurry of shots by Klitschko lands several shots in the corner... this was the most action of the fight to this point, especially as Ibragimov climbs the ladder late in the round and lands a pair of right hooks.. still, this was another round for Klitschko.
  • Round 7: Klitschko was able to snap off a few jabs and countered with a couple of stiff straight rights...Klitschko has only thrown 5 right hands in the entire fight to this point, and the announcers have suggested that maybe he hurt it? Because there were several instances where Klitschko had Ibragimov in position to throw combinations and he didn't... still, this round to Klitschko
  • Round 6: Both fighters continue to try to measure each other rather than engaging each other in action... every time Ibragimov tries to come inside and lands a hook, Klitschko ties him up... a few punches after the bell, but the fight continues to be sluggish on both guys... Ibragimov takes the round because he was more aggressive
  • Round 5: Klitschko starting now to show his skill by landing a few straight right hands, but is still trying to fend off Ibragimov's jabs with an unorthodox chopping motion... there is still a lot of tentativeness with both fighters, and the crowd is increasing their level of displeasure...Ibragimov has only landed 9 jabs through 5 rounds so far... Another round for Klitschko
  • Round 4: Klitschko got in close and Ibragimov was able to land a few good shots... Ibragimov is trying to work his way inside Klitschko's reach... 1/3 of the way through the fight and neither fighter is really established as clearly ahead... They gave Klitschko that round again
  • Round 3: The crowd wants to see more action (some booing at end of last round)... still a lot of jabbing from Klitschko and he starts to land them effectively... Ibragimov tried to burrow in and work the body but Klitschko was able to push him away... and "the boo birds" get louder as the bell rings. That round goes to Klitschko
  • Round 2: Klitschko has started to land his jab to the head and cut off the ring well... Ibragimov was able to land a few counter shots to the belly... Scorecard shows Klitschko took the round
  • Round 1: The feeling process includes Klitschko knocking down Ibragimov's attempts at jabbing... Ibragimov, fighting southpaw style, was the aggressor in that round, and HBO scored it 10-9 for Ibragimov

  • 10:35 PM ET: And here comes Klitschko
  • 10:30 PM ET: Ibragimov comes to the ring...
