Kevin Bacon is an American film and theater actor. He was born on July 8, 1958 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Bacon has five older siblings. Bacon was one of the youngest students to ever attend the Circle in the Square Theater School in New York at the age of 17. Bacon married actress Kyra Sedgwick on September 4, 1988. Bacon and Sedgwick have two children together, Travis and Sosie Ruth Bacon. The family resides in Manhattan.

Bacon made his film debut in 1978 with the movie Animal House. In 1982, he starred in the play Forty-Deuce, for which he won an Obie Award. From there, he had roles in more well known films such as Footloose, Rebel Without a Cause, The Big Picture, and Flatliners. His more recent works include Hollow Man, Trapped, Mystic River, Where the Truth Lies, and Rails & Ties.

Bacon founded the charitable organization known as SixDegrees.org in 2007. This organization focuses on charitable social networks or the "small world phenomenon" as a way to give to charities online. Bacon started the network with the celebrities Ashley Judd, Nicole Kidman, Kyra Sedgwick, Jane Kaczmarek, Bradley Whitford, Dana Delany, Robert Duvall, Jessica Simpson, and Rosie O'Donnell. These celebrities are founders and advocates of various charities.
