Guide Note: The Swedish women's rights group Bara Bröst (Just Breasts) launched a campaign in 2007 to make it an acceptable option for women to go topless in public. The movement was touched off by a September, 2007, incident in which two women were kicked off the premises of a pool in Uppsala, Sweden. The campaign has taken the form of a series of protests, in which women expose their breasts. The ideological goal of the group is to desexualize the bare female breast and to it as commonplace as the exposed male breast.

Though the Swedish movement has yet to win a decisive legal victory, an offshoot, the Danish Topless Front, has made inroads in Copenhagen. On March 28, 2008, it was determined by Copenhagen's Culture and Leisure Committee that women in the city would be allowed to go topless at public pools. Fast Facts:
