Joseph Geiger

Arrest
On August 21, 2008, the 23-year anniversary of Reed's disappearance, Geiger was arrested and charged with killing Reed. Geiger lived near the location where Reed's decomposed body had been found.1
Motive Theory
While Geiger has told police conflicting stories, officials believe that Geiger had confronted Reed in regards to stealing his marijuana plants. Police also believe that there was an altercation following the confrontation, and Geiger punched Reed in the face, causing Reed to fall and hit his head.2
