Jamie Foxx is an actor, singer and stand up comedian. He was born on December 13, 1967 in Terrell, Texas. Shortly after birth, Foxx was adopted. However, he was raised by his adoptive grandparents, Esther Marie and Mark Talley. Foxx began taking piano lessons at the age of five. He attended Juilliard and San Diego's United States International University where he studied music. He played football during high school and dreamed of playing for the Dallas Cowboys. On September 14, 2007, Foxx received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. After Foxx began stand up comedy, he chose to change his name to Jamie Foxx as a tribute to actor Redd Foxx.

Acting Career

In 1991, Foxx landed a role in the television series In Living Color. On August 28, 1996, Foxx began starring in the WB sitcom The Jamie Foxx Show. He made his film debut in 1999 with Any Given Sunday. From there he went on to play in the well known films Collateral, and Ray, for which he won an Academy Award. His more recent works include Stealth, Jarhead, Dreamgirls, and The Kingdom.
