Table of Contents:

Introduction

  • Our latest version of Mahalo Follow still lets you optimize your web browsing—if we have a Mahalo page that's an exact match to your search query, the page will open in a sidebar on your browser. If we don't yet have an exact match, you'll still see our closest results in the sidebar.
  • If you haven't already installed Mahalo Follow, please see our guide on How to Install Mahalo Follow for instructions.

Mahalo Follow Sidebar

  • When Mahalo Follow is in your toolbar, here's how to get started!
  1. When the Follow sidebar is open, Mahalo's related pages will appear as you browse the web.
    • The sidebar results will not appear until the main page you are looking at has fully loaded.
  2. If we have an exact match for your search, that page will open in the sidebar.

Turn Off the Mahalo Follow Sidebar

  • If you don't want the sidebar to follow your searches, it's easy to turn it off.
  1. Click on the Mahalo logo next to the Mahalo search bar.
  2. Select preferences.
  3. Uncheck the box in the preferences window.
  4. Now the sidebar will no longer automatically open when you search.

Recommend Links with Mahalo Follow

  • If you come across a great resource we should know about, use Mahalo Follow to let us know!
  1. In the toolbar, where it says "Would you recommend this link to a friend?," click on "Yes."
  2. A box will pop up, with the page's URL and title.
  3. If you're not logged into Mahalo, you'll be prompted to do so.
  4. If you think the title of the page you're recommending should be different, go ahead and change that information.
  5. Then tell us what Mahalo page the link should be on.
    • Don't worry about whether or not we currently have the search result you're submitting a link for. Just put the name of the result you think this page should be added to.
  6. Next, let us know why you think the site is a great addition to Mahalo.
  7. Then "tag" the site with key words. Use any words or phrases that best describe the site.
    • Since sites you recommend appear in your profile, these "tags" help you keep track of what pages you've recommended.
  8. Then press submit.
  9. Your page will now appear in the User submitted links section of that search result on Mahalo.
  10. If you recommended a link for a page we don't yet have, you have now created a page on Mahalo for that term. Your short page (aka stub) will be visible to other visitors, who can suggest their own links in turn.

The toolbar remembers when you liked and recommended a site: "Yes" stays clicked whenever you stop by the site.
