Home built airplanes are full-size, operational aircraft constructed by amateur aviation enthusiasts from scratch, plans, or semi-assembled kits. Often experimental in design, materials, or both, home-built airplanes may be licensed by the Federal Aviation Administration. On March 1, 2008, an accident involving two experimental home-built aircraft in Titusville, Florida, killed two people.
