Disney Channel Worldwide chief Rich Ross confirmed on Tuesday April 8th, 2008 that Disney is currently writing the script for High School Musical 4. The script was commissioned before filming of High School Musical 3 even began.

The cast for the 4th installment is still unknown
The 3rd installment of the franchise will open in theaters October 2008
The 2nd installment broke all cable TV records with 18.6 million viewers the night of it's premiere
Unknown at this point if director Kenny Ortega of the first three High School Musical's will return to direct the fourth.
