MLB Career
Maddux was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 1984 and played in his first Major League games in 1986. In his first full season, Maddux compiled a disappointing 6-14 record, but he rebounded in 1988, winning 18 games. Over the next sixteen seasons, Maddux never won fewer than 15 games. In 1992, Maddux won his first of four Cy Young Awards as a member of the Cubs, but the next season he signed as a free agent with the Atlanta Braves. In his first three seasons with the Braves, Maddux won three Cy Young Awards, giving him four consecutive pitching titles as he helped lead the team to a 1995 World Series win over the Cleveland Indians.1
In 2004, Maddux returned to the Cubs. In 2006, he was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Maddux then signed with the San Diego Padres in 2007, but was traded back to the Dodgers on August 18, 2008.2
