Synopsis

Garfield chronicles the daily life of an orange cat of the same name. He is fat and spoiled: instead of eating mice or regular cat food, he is always fed lasagna.

Garfield's owner, Jon Arbuckle, is a kind but dull man. Despite going out on many dates, he always returns home alone and frustrated.

Odie, Jon's pet dog, is a dumb yellow beagle who Garfield often takes advantage of. Unlike Jon and Garfield, Odie speaks no dialogue; he only drools non-stop.

Though cartoonist and creator Jim Davis drew all of the early Garfield strips, he has since left the work to collaborators and other artists. Still, he remains very active in promoting and protecting his franchise.¹
