Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings

Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings is a real-time strategy role-playing game and is a sequel to Final Fantasy XII. The game has been developed for the Nintendo DS.

Story

One year after the Archadian Wars, Vaan has finally become a sky pirate. When he and his friends find some treasure known as the Cache of Glabados, the legendary sky continent of Lumeres appears. It's up to Vaan and his friends to protect the inhabitants of this isle from the Judge of Wings and her army. The story is divided up into 10 distinct chapters.

Gameplay

Unlike other strategy games within the Final Fantasy series, this is the first Real Time Strategy or (RTS). Although there is no such thing as resource gathering or management, you will have to make sure you take control of the summoning gate as this is where you can call forth espers. Enemies can also take control of these gates and summon espers so you will have to make sure you capture the gate in order to control the flow of battle. Characters and espers are classified as ranged, melee, and flying units, each have their own strengths and weaknesses to each other. Each character will learn a super ability called a quickening that can be used to turn the tide of a battle. Essentially the management of characters is reduced to keeping track of which character abilities and quickenings are ready and making sure that they're effectively used. Control during battle is handled using a combination of touch-screen and button presses. The top screen displays a map of the entire area of the positions of both your units and your enemy's, and the bottom screen is a close-up view of the action.
