Evil Dead the Musical 3D

Reports indicate that Evil Dead: The Musical, based on Sam Raimi's 1981 horror film, will be filmed for theatrical release in 3D.¹

The actual off-Broadway musical features a "splatter zone" audience participation segment, where audience members in the first three rows are "covered in fake blood and guts." Film producer Don Carmody reportedly wants to bring that segment "to life" with the 3D effects.²

Directors of the play Christopher Bond and Hinton Battle are "lined up to co-direct" the movie. Shooting is scheduled to commence in the spring of 2009.¹
