The Employment Non-Discrimination Act is a proposed law that would prohibit discrimination against employees based on sexual orientation. One version of the bill passed the U.S. House of Representatives on November 7, 2007.

Transgender Controversy

Though ENDA originally included transgender employees in its protection, they were removed from the bill to ensure it would receive enough votes to pass. While some civil rights groups still supported the bill and believed it was a step in the right direction, many gay and lesbian activists were enraged by the exclusion of transgenders from ENDA.²
