Guide Note: Elizabeth Shelton, the daughter of Texas state District Judge Pat Shelton, was sentenced to a minimal jail term, 8-years probation, and a $10,000 fine, after being convicted of intoxicated manslaughter. The 20-year-old Shelton was found responsible for the death of Mathew McNiece, a passenger in the car she was driving with a blood alcohol content 3-times the legal limit. Critics of her sentence contend that Shelton received special treatment, as the daughter of a judge.
