Dill is a common herb used to flavor dips, salmon, cheeses, pickles, salad dressings, potatoes and many other meat and vegetable dishes.

The feathery green leaves can be used to add a crisp, grassy flavor to virtually any dish, but should be added just before the cooking is complete, as the herb quickly loses flavor when applied to heat.

Dill's yellow flowers are harvested and dried to separate the seeds, which are used as a spice that has a much stronger flavor, but more dilute aroma than dill weed.
